Spend your Sunday morning cruising Elm Creek Park!
(Edit: I am riding the "Midnight To Dawn Ride" with TCBM the night before, so I will not be available for an 8:00 ride. If anyone "feels the need" for a pre-ride loop, by all means please feel free, but I doubt there will be an "organized" 8:00 pre-ride this week (unless JR, Renae, or Tamsie edits this Meetup posting). However, I fully intend on attending the 9:00 ride, and I'll see if I can bring some other "all-nighters" over with me! Crazy? Youbetcha!)
This is a two-part ride. The main ride starts at 9:00, and we will ride the long loop around Elm Creek (approx. 15 miles), keeping things nice and casual. Elm Creek is quite hilly, and speeds can vary widely, from 20-25 MPH (or faster!) downhill, to 5-6 MPH uphill. Average, or "flat", speeds will be around 14-16 MPH.
The second part of this ride is a "pre-ride" warm-up/work-out loop for those interested in riding a little harder, faster, and/or longer. We'll meet at 7:45, do a faster paced "sprint" around the same loop to get the blood flowing (16-19 MPH average?) with perhaps only one stop, and then meet the others back in the parking lot for the regular 9:00 ride. (Note: Because we need to get back by 9:00, we must be on the trail no later than 8:00 for this ride. Please don't feel bad if you show-up at 8:01 and we are gone.....
Ride one, ride both...it's all good!
With regards to weather, I do not mind riding in the rain when I'm alone, but I will not do a group ride in the rain. If it is raining, please consider the ride(s) to be canceled.
Lastly, all are welcome, as the 9:00 AM ride is a "no drop" ride. Those that would prefer to ride ahead at a faster pace, please feel free. We (the slower riders) won't hold it against you- we'll just get to the the Maple Tavern a little bit later!
New members: Please look for me/my car (see profile picture, silver Honda Accord) at the NW corner of the chalet parking lot.
And "just in case", my cell number is[masked]-2189.
As always, please bring your safety gear, appropriate clothing, and a positive attitude!
See you at the park!
