Second Annual TCSC End-of-Season/Holiday Party!

  • This location is shown only to members

We had a blast last year, so let's do it again!  Mark O. has generously offered to host this year's gathering.  We'll meet for a potluck supper at 6 p.m.  Bring a dish to share: your favorite appetizer, hot dish, dessert or beverage.  Mark says there is an oven available to use as well as an outdoor grill.  There are also plenty of outlets to hook up your crockpot. Activities include a bonfire, maybe games??  Bring your favorite board game.  If we get snowed in or whatever, you can crash on the floor overnight if necessary. (Throw a sleeping bag and a toothbrush in the trunk of your car...)

Parking may be limited on Mark's street depending on the number of attendees, so an alternate place to park is in the lot of the white church across County Rd 42 (careful crossing!). If you are willing to carpool with others please mention that in your RSVP, so members can email you through the Meetup site to make arrangements.

It does not matter if you didn't make it to a TCSC ride this season.  This is a chance to get to know others in the group and to get psyched for the 2013 season to come.  Guests are welcome.

We had no shortage of food last year -- but just to help the planners, please mention in your RSVP what food item you plan to bring.

See you there!

Mark: thanks for opening up your home for this fun event; I enjoyed connecting with this exceptional crew in a social setting. I hope folks (e.g. JR) will be inspired to organize hikes over the winter. Also, what downhill ski clubs are recommended? Here's to an early spring so we can start riding again.

Many of us who like to ski are members of the Outdoor and Snow Lovers Meetup.

Another great event! Thanks Mark for sharing your home with us...very festively decorated and spacious. Looking forward to the coming biking season. Getting some ideas for next year already! In the meantime, anyone interested in some spinning over the winter? Look for more to come....

Thanks to Mark for opening his home and to all the other who contributed to make this a really fun event. I met lots of new people and am looking forward to riding with you all!

Thanks to all the party goes and helpers. I was happy to put the house to good use for the evening. It was great working with all of the organizers. It seemed like whenever a new issue came up, someone stepped up to offer extra help.

No real deadlines, but I will be contacting the table and chair folks for convenient pick up or delivery. For lost and found (so far), there was a bag with some liner gloves, athletic type hat, and as an added clue to ownership, one gluten free bagel. The other item is an Ovations pan with a lid. Just call or text to[masked] to claim and arrange for delivery.

Hi everyone! I had a wonderful evening, you are an amazingly welcoming and warm group. Thank you! I'm super excited to actually ride with you! Mark, thanks for hosting, Jennifer, thanks for being the group organizer, JR, thanks for introducing me to this group!!! See you all soon! And, I sure do hope that you all put the Tour de Cure Twin Cities on your ride calendars. (I have type 1 diabetes and the Tour is my all time favorite ride... I do about 6 of them nationwide each year... there are over 80 Tours across the USA. The Twin Cities one is in my top 3 favorites!)

The forcast has changed (imagine that) and I think I will be able to mange the drive. Thanks to all the shining knights that stepped forward.

Due to the adverse road conditions I find myself in need of a ride to this event. My left wing has been clipped (broke my wrist). Driving in ideal conditions is challening. No way will I attempt it in rain, sleet, ice and snow. So if there is anyone in the NW part of the cities (New Hope) who is willing I will be extremly grateful. I will adhere to your schedule, provide gas money and schedule and lead the ride of your choice next year. I live 3 blocks off of 169 and County Road 9 (also known as Rockford Road or 42nd Ave N). If willing please call[masked], text me or post a comment here. Hope to see you all tonight.

To: Mark and all of the other Elves who are assisting him in hosting this party.

You guys are the best. I have been looking forward to this fabulous party since last year's edition hosted by the indefatigable Tamsie. I went through the list of attendees and noticed I have NOT had the pleasure of meeting 4 or 5 of you.....What luck for me - I get to meet some new cycling friends!!!!

If you are reading this post and wondering if you should RSVP ..... Please do! The only way to hang out with the 50+ greatest future friends is to find your way to Mark's house!

I just want to put it out there that let's wait for Saturday to see what the weather really is, rather than cancel in fear. Occasionally, weathermen have been known to be wrong ;)

My last announcement is that there will be a collection box (or jar) at the party to help out with the cost of the web site that the organizers have to pay. A suggested donation of $1 to $3, depending on your level of involvement in the group, will help with most of the cost.

To let everyone know, for beverages we have a good supply of bottled water. If everyone is quite thirsty, some may have to refill with old fashioned tap water. Of course people can bring their favorite wine, beer, or soft drink to have and share as part of their pot luck. We are also set up well for hot drinks. There will be ice and some basic mixers, but feel free to bring your favorite type of "Christmas cheer".

Mark: Is the shuttle service available from the parking lot of East Heights Church or the Church of the Risen Savior? Both seem to be across the road from Summit Ridge Circle.

    December 12, 2012

    • Ed

Hi Michelle, This is Ed, one of the shuttle drivers. The entrance to Risen Savior is directly across the street from Summit Ridge Circle and the parking lot is huge. This is where you should park and where the shuttle will be. Just drove by it to be sure. East Heights is down the road a little bit.

      December 12, 2012

    • mark

Yes, thanks. Ed is local here. A mass will be getting out just when we will be arriving; just park away from the building on the northwest corner of the parking lot. I have been told you can not miss the shuttle van.

Hi everyone! Party attendance looks excellent. If anyone out there who is thinking about signing up, please do not be hesitant about the crowd. We have three levels here to eat, drink, and mingle on, and thanks to help from several sources, there are almost enough places for everyone to eat at once.

Once you find the street the house is easy to find; I have a lit wreath on the garage. Parking will likely be full; please read the notice about parking across the street. We have arranged for either full time or on-call shuttles to come and bring folks over. Call or text to[masked] or[masked] if a car is not there waiting. With the recent snow, DO NOT try to walk over. The road can be very busy, parts are still icy, and there is no real sidewalk.
