I really, really, really want to ride again!

  • This location is shown only to members

  • Update as of 4/5 - Going to reschedule this yet again to April 13th and hope for sunny skies and warm temps. Hopefully JR can make it and lead the way! We will probably break into fast, medium, and not so fast groups with leaders for each. Plan on a 2 hour ride with opportunities to socialize. We will group up before the ride so may be a little later starting.

Original post: I just received this lovely Christmas card and thought I would wish you a Happy Holidays by getting your mind back on riding :) In the summer I think about skiing and in the winter, biking. Go figure.

Last year we rode as early as the 17th. So here's hoping the 23rd will be clear. It will be the first ride so the emphasis will be on "Social". We'll ride 18mi down the Greenway to the falls and back on the Parkway. Pace will be about a 12 average with stops at Freewheel, the end of the Greenway, The falls, and the bandshell. 12 is not fast, but more than biking. But this will be a NO DROP ride. We wait for everyone.

Last year it was so nice we ate on the patio of Burger Jones. Here's hoping we can do that again :)

There is no need to check your calendars or the farmers almanac for the weather. I will not hold you to your RSVP. I'm just throwing this out there to get you thinking about riding next season.

Bring your helmet and a smile and I'll bring my Duct tape ;)

too cold and wet for me :( so bummed!

38° doesn't scare me. Worst case scenario will involve a snow bike and a very elevated heart rate. Hopefully the roads are dry enough for the road bike.

Hi! So....I'm confused....is it the 6th. or the 23rd? "So here's hoping the 23rd will be clear." ?

If it's the 6th...tomorrow...umm, 35-40 degrees, with rain/snow.....nah....I'll pass! lol

Hi Kevin, this was originally scheduled for March 23rd but was moved to April 6th. It's looking like it will be rescheduled again with the weather for tomorrow.

Good morning riders! A note for all the newcomers: Looks like the forecast is rain for tomorrow morning so check back for an update in the morning before heading out in case of a cancellation. If the ride is cancelled for tomorrow, we will likely reschedule for 4/13 or another date.

The ride is posted for 18 miles but there will be different groups with different speeds so the length of time will vary and perhaps the route will be too. The leaders will be depending on the more seasoned riders to lend a hand cuz bikers are helpful, happy folks :)

It kills me to miss our first ride of the season, but my work is sending me to CA for a week, leaving Saturday morning. So I'll have to catch the next one. I'll have to pass my role of purple duct tape to Renae. :-)

I'm going to chicken out this time and ride solo since I haven't been on a bike since shortly after my accident last spring, but I look forward to getting up to speed and joining the group and meeting new people!

    April 2, 2013

  • JR

Work has decided that I can't make this ride :( I was really looking forward to seeing the regulars again and meeting all these new people! But the group is half regulars, and Kevin, Mark, and Renae have stepped up to lead( it takes 3 to replace me ;) and I'm sure it will be a great time.
I think it'll be best if you have an idea of how fast you ride in mph. This will have to be broken up into waves. I'll leave it to the leaders to break it up day of.

I would love to, as my winter tires are still on my bike, but I have another obligation. Have fun regardless of the weather!

    March 18, 2013

I gotta go skiing a couple of more times before the bike comes off the trainer. For some strange reason, I think the weather will be better for strapping two boards to my feet vs two wheels :0

    Keep calm and carry on.
    57 won't show, this is meet-up.
We all won't ride the same pace, so groups will happen naturally.
If the weather is bad, I won't show.

So, JR...are you gonna come up with Plan B in case our lovely March weather refuses to cooperate??

      March 15, 2013

Lee Ann That would be more fun and adventure for the riders to explore little bit of winter riding in Minnesota. I always like to hear the ice cracking sound when the bicycle tires meet the ice, and negotiate the icy tracks that forcing your bike to follow the frozen path. Life never get dull in Winter riding!

10 day forecast is more snow & 20-30s. Don't think you guys need to be worrying about us clogging the bike path

You're a good man Paul, but that's still 57 bikes clogging the trail at each check-point. Anyhow, I volunteer to sweep a 'B' group if we do break it up.
