When: Saturday, February 6,[masked]:00 PM

A showcase of some of the most dynamic spoken-word artists in the Twin Cities. All winners of the 2009 VERVE Grant for spoken-word poets, these performance poets are ready and waiting to bring their new work to the community.

From Poetic Assassins' rapid-fire hip hop poetry, to Khary Jackson's theater-infused persona poems; from Tou Saiko Lee's bilingual meditations on Hmong identity, to Kyle "Guante" Myhre's darkly comic monologues and Tish Jones' smooth ruminations on life, love and loss, this performance will traverse the spoken-word landscape, merging countless styles, subjects and approaches to writing. Reception to follow show.

The venue's suggested donation: $5 (No one turned away)
All ages; everyone welcome!

If you're not going to the Meetup at the play at Park Square, and especially if you've never been to a spoken word event, this is a great opportunity to step slightly outside your comfort zone and experience something new and powerful. If you're seeking truth, there'll be some of it weaving in and around the words you'll hear at this event.
