Wine Tasting Bus Trip

Note: please sign up at TC Comedy and Wine Meetup - http://www.meetup.com/twincitycomedyandwine/events/124744042/  That way I can keep track of the signups.

Who's up for an all day Wine bus trip with 50 of your closest friend?

Here's the plan:

The bus will leave my place at 10 AM (you need to be there before 10 as the bus leaves at 10 with our without you - that's why it's at my place, that way I'm pretty sure I'll be able to make it).

Everyone will bring one bottle of wine. We'll have different varietals. Right now we're planning sauvignon blanc, zinfandel, merlot and chardonnay. Yes, friggin' Merlot for you Sideways fans. To make sure we don't have 50 bottles of the same thing, we'll divide people into 4 groups and let you know what type to bring when it gets closer to the event.

Everyone will be turning over the bottle of wine they brought to Dana and me. In between the wineries, so that it's not boring, we'll be opening these and doing a tasting. I expect to be totally sloshed by noon. It's be awesome!

At 10:45 we arrive at St. Croix Vineyards. We'll spend an hour there (that means we leave at 11:45 for those who have difficulty with math).

At 12:30 we arrive at Chateau St. Croix Vineyards. We'll spend an hour and 15 minutes there (leave at 1:45).

At 2:00 we arrive at Dancing Dragonfly. Dancing Dragonfly is a brand new winery. It's large like Chateau St. Croix and conveniently close. We'll spend an hour and a 1/2 there (leave at 3:30).

We then make the long trek to Vino in the Valley. At Vino, we'll have more wine and have dinner. We'll leave Vino at 7 PM and head back to the pick up point (aka my place).

At 8.:30 the bus should arrive back in Plymouth.

Do bring some snacks and maybe a some non alcoholic refreshment just to keep hydrated. The bus is air conditioned (it's August, so this is a good thing). And it had a bathroom. This will be a very good thing somewhere around 1/2 way through the trip.
(Gary's Wino Secret # 127: You may want to consider Depends. That way while the others are queued for the bathroom, you can drink all their wine).

That's the basics. The cost is $25 plus Paypal fees which brings the total to $26.05. No refunds, but you can give you spot to someone else if you can't make it.

You should also bring some money for the tastings at the winery and for dinner an other expenses. The $25 just covers the wine bus for the day (and tip for the driver).

Feel free to invite friends. Just have them sign up and pay, or you can pay for them. I don't care, long as I gets my money. Speaking of getting my money. There are always a few Luddites who don't use Paypal. If you wish to pay with a check, just drop me a line and I'll send you my email. Or you can pay me cash when you see me at another meetup. Or I can run your credit card through my little Paypal cell phone gizmo.

Again, to sign up, go to the TC Comedy site where I have a link to Paypal.  Due to limited space, and required payment to the bus company, you're not signed up until you're paid up.

And that's all you need to know.  See ya there.

Had a blast! I wish the seating was different so that we could talk more to people. I didn't know anyone there & it would have been nice to move around a bit.

I hear you. It was a nice bus, but you couldn't really move around. I'm thinking about doing it again, but with a bus with a more open seating arrangement.

At this writing, I have Sarah, Dana, Stephi, Diane, and Steve signed up at the other site. A few others on the wait list. There is a small chance that someone will want to give up their spot and I can move someone off the waitlist, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

It sounds like a great chance to meetup! For another Meetup going on at the same time. Ah, summer!

Good weather would certainly be a bonus, but in case it's bad, I checked and they tell me the bus is waterproof.

The bus leaves at 10. Supposed to get at my place at 9:45. I said 9:30 to allow a little buffer. Who is your friend? I see two people on the waiting list. I'm going to send out an email soon letting everyone who has paid know that if they can't make it, I do have people to take their spots.

Stephi, there is only one bus. I just cross listed it at a couple meetups. The main signup is the place where you paid - TC Comedy and Wine. See there.

This really sounds like a great event. I enjoy Merlot and will try and find a unique wine for the event. Looking forward to it.

Sue, I see you signed up with 2 others here. In order to register, you need to sign up and prepay at TC Comedy and Wine. We have to take prepayment because we have to pay the bus.

This sounds like fun. Just got back from Santa Barbara and got to partake in some barrel tastings @ Riverbench Winery.

    July 29, 2013

    • Gary

Well this won't be Santa Barbara, but $25 bus fare is also probably a lot less than a plane ticket. If you're interested, please sign up on TC Comedy and Wine where you can prepay (we have to pay the bus).

      July 29, 2013

  • Gary changed the location to 14500 34th Ave N
