Restaurant Week and Housekeeping!

Hey guys! Hope that you are all enjoying this tundra like weather, it is really something, but I hope that it is not going to keep you in next week and that you will all get out for restaurant week. *THIS IS A LONG EMAIL SORRY, I USUALLY DON'T DO THIS, SO YOU KNOW WHEN I DO, IT IS ALLLLL GOOD STUFF, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY-ESPECIALLY THE PART ABOUT THE FOOD AND WINE SHOW!*

Scott and I had the opportunity to attend The Msp. St. Paul Magazine Best of Best party last night at the Walker Art Center. Each restaurant that we have reservations for next week was represented last night and we were able to sample food (with some wine of course) from each of them. I was also able to talk to some of the chefs as well as managers about what they have planned for next week. If you have not RSVP'd yet for Wildfire, run don't walk to sign up! The prix fix menu that they have planned made me drool last night, and their chopped salad which will be part of that menu and is by far one of my favorites. If you were lucky enough to secure a spot for the r. Normans dinner, you are in for a treat. That was by far the hottest booth last night and EVERYONE was talking about it so I cannot WAIT to hear a review!

Bar Lurcat was another popular booth, and I am sure you will all have a good time as well. The variety of foods and styles from each of the chefs that will be represented last night is remarkable and I am sure that everyone will have a wonderful time. The fact that we were able to secure so many smaller reservations also gives everyone the opportunity to get to know one another as well. If there are restaurants that you have been wanting to get out to, this is the perfect opportunity to give them a try, I know I for one cannot wait!

A note to hosts and hostesses, can you please send me your mailing addresses? Thank you I would appreciate it. Also, please note that upon checking in at your restaurant please identify the fact that you are there for Restaurant Week so that they are aware of that and so you have the proper menus. Some restaurants will do separate checks if you ask for this up front. If you order a bottle of wine for the table just make sure that it gets split up properly. If someone would like to bring a bottle of wine please call ahead to the restaurant to ensure that this is acceptable and to find out what the corkage fee will be.

There are still openings for some of the dinners, if you have any questions please let me know. I do know that it is virtually impossible to get reservations for any of these restaurants now for the prix fix menus.

Now for the not fun stuff. If you RSVP for a dinner and do not show, you will be removed from the group. If you RSVP yes for a dinner, it means yes and you need to make a commitment to the rest of the group and show up. This is inexcusable (unless you email or call me to explain a very unique situation, I do know and understand that things do happen, but this group is KNOWN for no shows and I am a zero tolerance organizer for 2008!). You have to understand that this inconvenience is more widely felt than just to me, it is the rest of this group that you need to show some respect to, the establishment in which we are dining including the owner, manager, chef and server. Please just be considerate, I really don't think that it is asking to much. Also, if you decide to send me a nasty message in response to this, trust me, I could care less, I have gotten a ton of them from people who have signed up for this meetup who obviously do not know me or people who have never attended an event, because if you do know me, or you have attended one of our events, you would know that I am all about the fun, all about a good time, meeting new people and living life to the fullest!

Also, earlier today I cleaned up our group list and I removed members that have been inactive for 6 months or longer, so we went from a group of 359 to 278. That is a pretty big drop. But again, how many of the 278 members are actually participating in this group? Is there a reason you are not? Do you have some ideas or suggestions that you would like to share? Please email me if you do!

There is a new St. Paul Wine Meetup group, have you checked them out yet?

I know a couple of you attended the event that they had last Wednesday and said it was a good time. They are having an OTBN on Saturday night, have you signed up yet? I think it sounds like a really good time! IF I can I am going to try to make it, but weekends are hard for Scott and I with family obligations.

Are any of you attending the Food and Wine Show this weekend? Well I know that there will be two celebrities pouring on Sunday until 2. . . .okay well maybe not celebrities, but maybe in our own minds? Tara and I will be pouring at booths E&J Gallo booth (526) and Folio Wines (826) respectively, stop by and say hi, we will pour you some!

I have some other events on the horizon, looking forward to spring and all it has to offer!
