Tournament Details & Rules

The doors open at 5PM, and the tournament starts at 5:30PM sharp!
(All details are subject to change up to the start of the event.)

The initial round will consist of 4 games. The game settings are as follows:
Game 1: Slayer on Assembly, 25 kills to win
Game 2: Oddball on Heretic, 75 points to win
Game 3: Juggernaut on Orbital, 10 points to win
Game 4: Crazy King on Blackout, 75 points to win

Each game will have 4 players. If we have a remainder of players they will be distributed into other games so there may be a couple of 5-player games. Players will be randomly selected for each game (i.e. You will probably have different opponents in each game). After the game is done, you will be awarded points based on your ranking in the game:

1st place: 10 points
2nd place: 6 points
3rd place: 3 points
4th (and 5th) place: 0 points

Ties will split the points. For example, if two players have 21 kills for 2nd place in the Slayer game, they both get 4.5 points (6 + 3 divided by 2.)

At the end of the 4 games, the top 16 players will move on to the championship round. If there is a tie for the final slots (i.e. 5 people tie for 16th place) there will be a quick tiebreaker match. The quick match will be: Slayer on Construct, 10 kills to win

There will be a semi-final game. The odd players (positions 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 15) will be in one game, and the even players (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16) will be on the other. The game settings will be: Rocketball on Citadel, 100 points to win

The top 4 players on each team will then compete in the final 8-player championship game. The game settings are: Slayer on Longshore, 50 kills to win

Good luck!

Mike: I know Zack can answer these better than I can, but the zombie game was "I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!!1" by James Silva of Ska Studios. I think the planet one was called "Solar" (that one looked really cool too, and I'll be downloading it as well.)

What were the titles of all the XNA games being played? There was the Zombie one that looked kinda like Geometry Wars, a space invaders one, and another that looked like you controlled a planet and controlled asteroids....

Even if people aren't participating they should be paying or donating food. It's a charity event - not an entrance fee for a tournament.

$10 (or $10 worth of food) per person. This is for charity.

Michael: nope. you don't need to bring your own xbox. No limitation or restrictions. As long as you have your entry fee.

Do we need to bring our own Xbox? Mine is currently being sent in to Microsoft for the RROD. And are their limitation/restrictions on who can enter?

I'm going to send Chris the rules to the tournament tonight (with a strong emphasis on using ODST maps).

If you (like me) are not going to the final brackets in the Halo tourney, there will still be plenty to do. We'll have an xbox with a fine selection of XNA Indie Games, and a Rock Band setup with 400+ songs.
