Changify (http://changifyshoreditch2-eorg.eventbrite.co.uk/) is a new crowdfunding platform for local community-led change projects to seek backing from brands, local businesses and other supporters being launched early in 2013.
Want to make a difference in 2013? Be among the first to have your ideas featured on Changify - sign up for Changify Shoreditch 2 (http://changifyshoreditch2-eorg.eventbrite.co.uk/) taking place on the 18th-19th January, get inspired about local change, and start to build support and find backing for the things you spot and care about.
Over the evening of Fri 18th and daytime Sat 19th January, we're going to Changify Shoreditch together, with an exciting blend of local exploration, reporting and creative problem solving. Make it your mission possible!
The themes for Changify Shoreditch are: Environment, Living, Business, and Transport.
1) On Friday... you turn roving urban reporter. Explore past, present and future Shoreditch on a tour hosted by city guides Peter Berthoud and Alternative London. Snap, tweet and rate issues and inspirations you notice en route. Followed by two short talks from local community & business representatives, including Tower Hamlets councillor Joshua Peck and Jack Skillen, Hackney resident & Head of Projects (Streets) at Living Streets.
2) On Saturday... review your findings to build a local picture of what should be changifyed and how local busineses and brands could help. Team-up to hone your ideas, and pitch solutions using video or other storytelling methods. Then get feedback on your project ideas from a panel of local community and creative experts.
But how does the Changifying happen..?
The solutions become micro-projects, illustrated by your descriptions, photos, stories and videos. Then the projects go forward to be posted and find backing on the Changify hub from the local community, brands and other supporters.
In Rockwell House Studio (Fri), the Tea Building (Sat) and around the streets of Shoreditch and Brick Lane, a historic and dynamic part of east London.
The event is open to anyone with a passion for making a difference. Come along, get creative and share your skills. We'll also have design, community and media experts on hand to give feedback. What counts is curiosity and a desire to Changify the neighbourhood!
