Thanks to everyone for coming out this past Tuesday and sharing your dream childhood place, and for coming up with brilliant collaborations to make Tompkins Square Park more kid-friendly. A huge thank you to James Rojas for leading such a fun and creative workshop! Lessons that I learned: stretch the limits of your imagination to conceive of the most engaging, fun and interactive places possible; don’t take yourself so seriously.

Just a few things I’d like to bring up, share and ask from you:

1) After Tuesday’s workshop with James, it would be great if you would please share your thoughts about your experience. James would especially appreciate hearing your feedback on the following points: - How effective do you think the conceptual model-building workshop is as a planning tool?Would you use it as a tool?

You can email me or post it on the meetup page.

2) Tomorrow, Sunday July 29th, 12-2pm - interactive urban planning workshop facilitated and developed by James Rojas will take place. Participants will get to engage with an interactive diorama of the Lower East Side and articulate their vision for New York City using hundreds of repurposed, colorful objects.
The event will be held outdoors at First Park, a new public park in the Lower East Side. Formerly a rat-infested alley closed to the public, then the temporary home of BMW Guggenheim Lab, First Park is now a new art park and a unique backdrop for creative events. The event is free and is open to all ages. First Park, 33 East 1st St, Manhattan (entrance on 2nd Avenue)

3) Another workshop is being planned for when James returns to NYC in September – this time to deal with an actual urban issue. Is there any place that you would like to hold a workshop? Perhaps an open space being planned in your neighborhood? Please let me know so that we can have places of importance to you to consider for location.

4) There are photos up – so feel free to tag yourself and others!

Thanks and have a great weekend!
