Government Shutdown: Freedom vs. Tyranny

The government is closing down, because the continuing resolution has not been passed to fund many agencies.

Yesterday, Barack Obama called his cabinet members together to prepare for the shutdown. Obama announced at the meeting:
"So I appreciate all the members of the Cabinet who are here.  They have been doing a lot of planning.  I wish they were spending more time focusing on how to grow jobs and the economy as opposed to having to spend time figuring out how they manage a government shutdown."

Let's see how his team are managing the shutdown and allocating precious resources. Here are a few examples.

Image: A US Park Police officer walks in front of the closed Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC (? Carolyn Kaster/AP)

Park officials were ordered to put a fence around the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC, put up signs that the memorial was closed and have armed guards patrol the perimeter.  The problem is that it costs nothing to allow people to walk up to and through the memorial, while putting up fences and signs and having park police patrol the memorial costs thousands of taxpayer dollars each day.

An example of Freedom vs. Tyranny.

In South Dakota this morning, tourists going to Mount Rushmore actually came up to signs announcing "Mt. Rushmore Closed."  Barricades were placed across the road and park rangers were turning motorists back from the Mount Rushmore parking lot. The problem is that it costs nothing to allow people to park in a parking lot to view Mount Rushmore, while putting up barricades and signs and having park rangers turn back thousands of tourists costs thousands of taxpayer dollars each day.

Another example of Freedom vs Tyranny.

The Obama administration actually had barricades put up around the World War II Memorial. A walking memorial that costs nothing to run. Hundreds of Veterans who came to see the memorial and a few Republican members of congress made short order of the barricades and stormed them. Here is a tweet from one of the vets.

Credit where due -- I watched Rep Steve King distract a park police officer while vets and staffers knocked down the fences here.

Republican Congressman Steve King of Iowa noted: "This is a White House decision...It doesn't cost any money to keep this open, but it costs money to guard it to keep people from coming here. These have always been open air monuments, the Vietnam Mall,  the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the Korean Memorial...we don't have money to run the government, but we have enough money to keep guards to keep people from walking in here to see the honor that's been earned here by people who are here today."

Yes, another example of Freedom vs. Tyranny.

Yesterday Republicans in the House of Representatives sent a Continuing Resolution to the Senate to keep the government fully funded and open. There were two amendments to the resolution.

The first amendment postponed the individual mandate for one year. In other words, Americans would have the choice of either going to an ObamaCare exchange and getting insurance or not going, without the fear of the IRS coming after them and being fined by the mandate. Americans would have freedom to choose.

The second amendment made members of Congress subject to ObamaCare just like the rest of us.

President Obama said he would veto the resolution. Democrat Senate Majority Leader said that it was dead on arrival and the 54 Democrats in the Senate voted against the resolution and the 46 Republicans in the Senate voted for the resolution to keep the government open.

Obama and the Democrats want take away our freedoms. They don't want to allow us to have the freedom choose, while they exempt themselves from their law. They will shutdown the government, spend taxpayer money to close monuments of our founding fathers and memorials to our veterans, all so they can keep their power and take way our liberty.

Remember, while the government is shutdown, Obama has vowed to keep ObamaCare exchanges open "no matter what." Our veterans, the principles of our founding fathers and our freedoms mean nothing to this man.

This is Freedom vs. Tyranny.

Call your Representative and Senators and tell them that you have had enough and to keep up the fight for freedom.
