Obama "Fairness" At Work

What is Your ObamaCare Subsidy? Members of Congress and their Staffs receive a Subsidy of 72% no matter what their salaries!

We have all heard about the 72% Congressional ObamaCare subsidy, that was authorized by Obama in the middle of one night in early August, but what is actual effect on what our "public servants" pay for ObamaCare and how does this compare with the average American's cost for Obama's "signature achievement?"

                   The Obama Honesty Team

In early August, Obama and his "Honesty Team" worked out a deal to bypass Republican Senator Charles Grassley's amendment to ObamaCare that had forced members of Congress and their staffs into the ObamaCare exchanges, where any subsidy they received would be based on income, like everyone else.

Obama, in a behind closed doors deal, ordered a 72% subsidy of the ObamaCare premiums for Congress to be paid with our tax dollars through the Federal Office of Personnel Management.

The rule was entered into the Federal Register on October 2, 2013, one day after the ObamaCare exchanges were opened and the Federal Government was shut down.

Now you see what is important to these people, the government is shut down, grieving military families whose loved ones were killed in action had their benefits withheld, but the adminstrastion made sure that the ObamaCare exchanges with the broken web site were opened and the bureaucrats in Washington made sure that Congress received their 72% ObamaCare subsidy.

To find out what the amount of the subsidy for our so-called "public servants" is, you have to be somewhat of a Sherlock Holmes. First you would had to find the entry in the Federal Register. It is amazing that Obama and his cronies had any time to make the entry considering the innumerable memorials, parks and monuments all across the country they had to erect barricades around, close down and police.

On page 60,656 of the Federal Register / Vol. 78, No. 191 / Wednesday, October 2, 2013 / Rules and Regulations in §[masked] on Government Contributions the entry refers you to Section 8909 of Title 5 United States Code: Employees Health Benefits Fund.

Section 8909 of Title 5 United States Code, refers you to Section 8906: Contributions.

In Section 8906 of Title 5 United States Code, Congressmen and Congressional Employees receive a 72% Contribution towards their Affordable Care Act premiums.

Now let's see how "fair" this is considering that Obama is always concerned about "fairness" and "fair share" in the "most transparent administration ever." Remember on his first day in office, Obama told us: "Transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of my Presidency."

Here is a chart that compares the premiums in ObanaCare paid by citizens of our country to the premiums paid by autocrats in Congress after their 72% subsidy. The premiums are for the Silver ObamaCare plan.

The median family income in the United States has declined from $54,983 to $50,964, a loss of $4,019, since Obama took office and the decline accelerated after Obama's so-called "recovery summer" in 2010.

Average Americans Pay Over Three Times What Congress Pays

Looking at the charts, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, who have Congressional salaries of $193,400 on top of their outside incomes, pay less for ObamaCare than a family of four with an annual income of just $50,000. They pay $1,267.00 (0.67% of their Congressional income), while the family pays $3,365.00 (6.73% of their income). Now that's "Barack Obama fairness" at work!

On average a U.S. citizen, with the same age and income, pays more than three times the premium than one of these so-called "public servants" in Congress.

Rep. Charles Rangel

Democrat Congressman Charles Rangel of Harlem, New York, who receives a salary of $174,000 and was censured by Congress for violations of ethics rules and income tax evasion, when asked if he should get the 72% subsidy told reports: "No question about it."

This is more than disgusting.

Call or email your Congressmen and demand that they void this subsidy.

Here is the email I sent:

Dear Senator/ Representative ________,

I demand that you move immediately to void the rule entered in the Federal Register on October 2, 2013 on page 60,656 that gives members of Congress and their staffs a 72% subsidy for ObamaCare. Millions of Americans don't get a subsidy and neither should Congress.

Sincerely,

Ronald Solomon
