Saturday, June 15th at the Sahara West Library 9600 W. Sahara Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89117 from 2-5pm.

‘Take Back Your Power’ is an eye-opening documentary which investigates the “smart” meter program currently being implemented worldwide by most of the major utility companies. These devices are being installed often without the knowledge, the consent – and sometimes against the protests – of property owners. The film uncovers alarming issues about health, privacy, property rights, corporate fraud, and vulnerability issues inherent in the “smart” grid. http://takebackyourpo...

Entrance to see the film will be by donation, (suggested $5 ea) which we will collect at the beginning of the program and at the end. Yesterday, I went personally to the 3 major libraries on the west side of town, (Summerlin, Sahara West and Charleston) and all three libraries have the poster on their bulletin boards and expressed a lot of enthusiasm for the film. Feel free to distribute to any and all.

2009 IECC:
Coming up this week on June 5th at the City of Las Vegas City Council Meeting, Bob Beer's Resolution to waive the requirement for buildings built before 2009 to comply with the 2009 IECC (International Energy Conservation Code) will most likely be up for a vote. The resolution passed by 2-1 vote to move forward to the full council 3 weeks ago so now the real test is at hand.

63.) Bill No. 2013-24 - For Possible Action - Amends the City’s version of the Southern Nevada Amendments to the 2009 Inter-national Energy Conservation Code to exempt certain activity regarding buildings
constructed before 2009 from complying with energy conservation standards that otherwise would apply. Sponsored by: Councilman Bob Beers

Please try to attend this important meeting that starts at 9:00 am at City Council Chambers, 2nd floor at City Hall 495 S. Main St. Las Vegas, NV 89101 phone: (702) 229-6011 495 No. Main St. downtown Las Vegas. Suzette LaGrange, City Council candidate in the last election cycle will be in attendance to speak in support of the resolution. Even if you do not wish to speak your presence indicating support of the resolution will still be greatly appreciated.

The plan is for Suzette to turn to the group of supporting attendees and say, "Who supports this esolution?" Hopefully there will be a large group of supporters in attendance.

On the News Front:

* SB123 passed the Assembly Commerce and Labor Committee so utility rates will be going up again in the near future. We will all be soon paying for new power generating plants and buying power generated by solar, wind and geothermal.
* Warren Buffet has purchased Nevada Energy subject to shareholder and PUCN approval. In my opinion this too will increase utility rates. We will know more as time progresses.
