The Democrats' War On The Middle Class
We have heard the Democrats tell Americans over and over again that the Republicans are waging wars on women, minorities, education, contraception, children, the elderly, the poor, the disabled and even science.
If the Republicans have an ounce of common sense, one of the major campaign issues in 2014 that should repeated over and over again is "The Democrats' War On The Middle Class." This is an issue that will resonate with tens of millions of Americans, because it's true.
The Democrats Are Destroying The Middle Class
Millions of Americans are now finding out what a nightmare ObamaCare is for them. The Democrats have lost all credibility on the health care issue. Millions of people in the middle class now know that the president's "you can keep your plan, period" and "middle class families will save $2,500" promises were total fabrications, that ObamaCare is hurting them with higher premiums, higher deductibles, and lost coverage. And millions of Americans will be constantly reminded of Obama's false promises and Democrats' staunch support of ObamaCare as they continue to receive cancellation letters and write out their monthly health insurance premium checks.
The revelation and admission by Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius that there are no background checks and ObamaCare navigators could be convicted felons that would use American's personal information for nefarious use, doesn't help Democrats either.
ObamaCare has other adverse effects on the middle class. Because of the employer mandate, employers with over 50 full time employees, employees who work more than 30 hours a week, will be subject to the added costs and regulations of the law and millions of Americans are and will be losing their jobs and work hours. A report by Investors Business Daily three days ago lists 363 businesses and municipalities that are cutting jobs and work hours because of ObamaCare. http://news.investors...
At the 2012 Democratic National Convention, both Obama and Bill Clinton talked about how the Democrats are the party that helps the middle class. Clinton told millions of Americans: "We Democrats, we think the country works better with a strong middle class, with real opportunities for poor folks to work their way into it, with a relentless focus on the future, with business and government actually working together to promote growth and broadly share prosperity."
Really? Let's see how Obama's tax hikes, increased regulations and spending increases are making the middle class stronger.
Since Obama's so called "Recovery Summer," middle class employment and incomes have fallen. The labor participation rate, the real statistic on employment that shows the actual percentage of people who are working compared to the total population of people who are able to work, has declined during Obama's entire administration, even after the "Recovery Summer." The labor participation rate is now at the dismal Jimmy Carter presidency levels.
The number of jobs created under Obama are so low, they don't keep up with the population growth and the few the new jobs that are created, most are part time jobs.
Further, middle class incomes have declined drastically under Obama, even after his "recovery." Since Obama took office, the median middle class family income has declined from $54,983 to $50,964, a loss of $4,019 and accelerated after Obama's "recovery." The Wall Street Journal made the observation: “For household income, the Obama recovery has been worse than the Bush recession.” Over Obama's presidency, the share of the nation's income that went to the middle class has declined to an all time low.
And what happened to Obama's big green jobs plan that was going to make 5 million new jobs? You know, one of those "relentless focus on the future, business and government actually working together to promote growth and broadly share prosperity" deals Bill Clinton spoke about at the 2012 Democratic National Convention?
In 2008, Obama said: "I will invest $15 billion a year in renewable sources of energy to create 5 million new energy jobs over the next decade—jobs that pay well; jobs that can’t be outsourced; jobs building solar panels and wind turbines and a new electricity grid; jobs building the fuel-efficient cars of tomorrow."
Well, five years, tens of billions of taxpayer dollars and scores of green energy company bankruptcies later a Department of Energy Report showed that only 2,308 permanent jobs have been created at a cost to American taxpayer of $11 million per job. http://frontpagemag.c... That's an Obama "investment" for you.
Conversely, the approval of the Key Stone XL Pipeline, which Obama has held up for five years, would cost tax payers nothing, create tens of thousands of jobs, lower energy prices for all Americans and promote economic expansion.
And to add to all this misery, middle class families are seeing prices going up all around them, from groceries to energy and, of course, health care. As the Fed continues to print money at $85 billion a month, over $1 trillion a year, to cover for Obama's devastating economic policies, the value of middle income pay checks are plummeting.
All this comes as the Obama administration's spending on social welfare programs, welfare, medicaid, food stamps and low income housing programs, during his "recovery" has exploded by 33% from $563 billion in 2008 to $746 billion in 2012. With all this spending, the number of people on food stamps has increased from 28 million in 2008 to 47 million today, while spending on the program more than doubled from $39 billion to $83 billion. Also, the percentage of people living in poverty has increased under Obama to 15% of all Americans. So much for Clinton's Convention statement: "real opportunities for poor folks to work their way into it (the middle class)."
And we forget the added price that all these wonderful results have costing us and our children: $7 trillion in new debt and counting.
Clinton finished his convention speech with this awe inspiring statement: "If you want a future of shared prosperity, where the middle class is growing and poverty's declining, where the American dream is really alive and well again, and where the United States maintains its leadership as a force for peace and justice and prosperity in this highly competitive world, you have to vote for Barack Obama."
"Middle class growing and poverty declining," "the American dream is really alive and well."
Really, Bill? Under Barack Obama and the Democrats, the exact opposite is happening.
The Democrats are destroying the middle class and thank goodness people all across America are waking up to this reality, and the Democrats know it.
