May Meetup —Service Design From Insight to Implementation

We wil be reading Service Design, From Insight to Implementation. We have unsatisfactory experiences when we use banks, buses, health services and insurance companies. They don't make us feel happier or richer. Why are they not designed as well as the products we love to use such as an Apple iPod or a BMW?

Service Design is an eminently practical guide to designing services that work for people. It offers powerful insights, methods, and case studies to help you design, implement, and measure multichannel service experiences with greater impact for customers, businesses, and society.

Rosenfeld Media has generously given us a discount code for the book. Go to rosenfeldmedia.com/books/service-design. The code is: uxbooknyc.

The $10 fee goes towards food, drink and administrative costs.

    Hi, everyone.

    Here is a list of book suggestions for future sessions. I own a copy of all of these and I typically use them as information resources for projects. If I have mentioned books that have been discussed in-depth before, I apologize in advance. I look forward to seeing other book ideas on this thread. - Lean Analytics: Use Data to Build a Better Startup Faster, by Alistair Croll

    - The User Experience Team of One: A Research and Design Survival Guide, by Leah Buley

    - The Lean Startup: How Today's Entrepreneurs Use Continuous Innovation to Create Radically Successful Businesses, by Eric Ries

    - The Mobile Frontier: A Guide for Designing Mobile Experiences, by Rachel Hinman

    - Interviewing Users: How to Uncover Compelling Insights, by Steve Portigal

    - Information Dashboard Design: Displaying Data for At-a-Glance Monitoring, by Stephen Few

    Great conversation, everyone. I know we talked about picking another book for the next meetup, but I was wondering - since some of us have not finished reading "Service Design..." would it be a good idea to continue the conversation instead? Maybe we can talk about some of the case studies, etc. Just a suggestion...

    Posted several links and topics in the discussion area, I'd be happy to continue the conversation online here if you have any questions or queries about the ideas I mentioned. Good talking and sharing with everyone today.

    Hi everybody - due to an emergency, I will not be able to make it to this event (bummer, because I really enjoyed this selection). I am offering up my spot to anybody who wants it. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon.

    Hi, am I the only one having issues with the discount code? It's somehow not working (even after creating an Rosenfeld account).

    Getting the following when entering the discount code:

    Discount code not available. Possible reasons:
    - the code you entered is incorrect;
    - the code can be used only by a registered customer;
    - the code is disabled or expired.

    I've already started the book and am very glad to have others to discuss it with.
