UX Marshals meetup #001 at Valtech: Wireframed

Greetings and salutations!

Put a big X (after U) in your calendar because we're closing in on a UX Marshals mobilization. On the eve of November 6, to be clear.

"I did some wireframes and then I had to live with it." Famous words of John-Philip Johansson as he gave a sizzling lightning talk at UX Open on the insights gained as he himself had to actualize his own wireframes.

#JP

John-Philip, JP, is a UX Developer at Avanade. A focus on User Experience Design programming is not something you come across every day but something that, to my great joy, is gaining traction. JP is also a mastermind behind the Xdev Innovation Camp hackathon and setting up weekend UX Student Competition workshops.

Sprinkled with humour and tough lessons John-Philip brings solid advice on how to do wireframes the right way for the benefit of project momentum, and mental well-being.

I am glad to announce that JP's 10-minute teaser talk will be brought to its unedited feature-length director's cut at UX Marshals meetup #001.

Will this be the night that we KILL LIGHTBOXES?

#AGENDA

An evening of mingling and inspiration, our first meetup will bring you JP's talk, and most certainly some discussions around the UX Marshals format, goals and expectations. And yes, we may even have a second session/panel sort'a thing (all sort of secret and in the works) .

18:30 — Arrive and mingle
19:00 — John-Philip presents “Wireframed — I did some wireframes. Then I had to live with it.”
20:00 — More mingling
20:30 — John Ekman of Conversionista — In search of the perfect button
21:00 — Keep mingling! There will be a cutoff time but it’s as of yet undecided. Probably around 22:30.

[edit Nov 5, 2013] About John's session 20:30 — "As Conversion Optimizer John is obsessed with getting people to add things to the shopping cart. This little button might seem like a trivial thing to design but in fact there are many options on how to display it, what should happen when it's pressed and what it looks like after being pressed. John's thoughts on this are very much 'work in progress' so expect to jump right in and add your own observations and ideas."

Agenda may be updated as details become more clear. Let's just get this ball rolling, shall we?

## Where?

Valtech to the rescue. We will be residing in their awesome offices and meetup space at Hantverkargatan 5 on Kungsholmen.

## How many?

Let’s shoot for 50 people!

## Language?

Almost certainly we will be doing this in English. I am expecting non-Swedish participants.

## Really want to get into the marshal mindset?

Get your t-shirt or hoodie here: (and no, I do not make a cent from these, it’s the Spreadshirt listing price). http://axbom.spreadshirt.se/

Can't wait to see you all!!

I loved the setup with talks and then Q&A. The only thing I wonder is why half of the people left after the first presentation.

Looking at the headcount I think about 10-11 people left in the break. My theory is that it doesn't work for everyone, especially if you live far away, to stay late. Any feedback on this is appreciated as it can help with future setups and planning.

Ledsen men jag missade eventet, har blivit sjuk och stod på waiting-listan och tänkte inte på att hålla koll på listan här. Ber om ursäkt och hoppas på ett annat tillfälle!

Unfortunately already made other plans for tonight. Couldn't risk doing nothing tonight if not added from the waiting list. Next time!

Jag var först att hänga på låset till anmälan men det är så enormt mycket att göra annars dessa dagar så min UX-marshaldebat får ske nästa gång. Mvh

Our surprise guest at 20:30 will be John Ekman of Conversionista! I will be adding this to the agenda later in the week. "As Conversion Optimizer John is obsessed with getting people to add thing to the shopping cart. This little button might seem like a trivial thing to design but in fact there are many options on how to display it, what should happen when it's pressed and what it looks like after being pressed. John's thoughts on this are very much 'work in progress' so expect to jump right in and add your own observations and ideas."

This first UX Marshals event will knock your socks off! ;)

Should we all bring our best 'wireframes of shame' we have been forced to live with ?

    3 · October 15, 2013

    • John-Philip J.

That would be awesome for the aftertalks =D

      1 · October 15, 2013

Sounds awesome! Could really learn how to do better wireframes! ;)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
