Hi All

Next few months at UX Perth we are covering Prototyping and Ethnography.  Not read the books, why not still come along, the discussion is usually very lively.

October - Prototyping

Building a quick but inetractive prototype is a very handy, if not core skill for any UX professional.

However too often it is dismissed as something for the developers to do.

Not so!

Prototyping should be embraced by all.  How else can you decide if your interaction concepts and sketches are going to really work.

You just need to build a prototype, do a walkthrough, and test it with the product audience.  Simple really.

The seed books for this month are:

November - Ethnography

Ethnography is a qualitative research method that is used to explore the interaction of people with in a cultural or setting.   It is sometimes just called field studies.

Borrowed (ie stolen) directly from social anthropology Ethnography is often an underused technique in UX circles.

The output on these studies can to a written report or a graphical representation or even a visual journey.

This really is a skill that appears easy at first, but is difficult to master as it's mainly about observing and documenting efficiently.

The seed books for November 2012 are:
