Discussing "Agile Experience Design" by Ratcliffe & McNeill

For our February meeting we will be discussing the first half of Agile Experience Design by Ratcliffe & McNeill (chapters 1 through 6). This book was suggested by our founder, Gabby Hon. (You can find information on past and future books selections here.)

*Update* Haymarket has agreed to set aside space for our meeting. We've also had a few members generously offer other locations. I decided on a more social setting for this Meetup, but please share your feedback on the type of meeting environment you prefer for future events on the discussion boards or by contacting me directly.

Please remember that you can come to the meeting even if you haven't read the book. Hope to see you soon!

Great people who all had very intelligent things to say. It felt great to discuss some of the challenges of the UX trade with other UXers.

The moderators were awesome at keeping the convo going. Well done.

EXCELLENT! i am very green when it comes to UX. Trying to transition into it, and gave me a great opportunity to meet some of the community. Looking forward to the next one.

Learnings: "agile at our agency is a no-no term. So we do it underground." -- is your style of agile "agile" or "frankenscrum"? (nice one, Kristi!) -- designer + developer = devigner (did I spell that right, Nick?) Thanks for a great meetup, everyone!

It was great to meet so many people from the UX field and hear their thoughts about the book. I found it extremely helpful when people used real life experiences to identify pro/cons to agile, or to simply ask how agile could be applied. Good stuff.

I really enjoyed the session, especially learning about how other people are applying agile at their workplaces. The venue was way too loud for comfortable discussion, however.

The discussion was interesting and well-facilitated. So glad this group is starting up!

Great book whose content was long over due for the agile world. It's great to be able to point team members and organizations to a book that includes the design role within the agile process.

Great first meetup! We'll pick a quieter venue for the next event.

It was great to meet like-minded people from other dimensions. I really don't like this book, though. It's so vague, there are very few actually useful diagrams, and it takes too long for the authors to get to the point.

Haha. Nevermind--I just realized the second half of the book is just reference! Looks like I'll have to try to make it to this meeting.

I'd love to come but I'm celebrating my birthday this day! If you're ever going to talk about the second half, I'll join in.
