Eye Tracking Panel Discussion

  • February 1, 2011 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Join us for a discussion of eye tracking technology: what it is, what it's used for, how to do it, when to do it, and pros and cons of eye tracking vs. other techniques. The evening will include a demo of commonly used eye tracking hardware, explanations of the technology, case studies, and much more -- as well as all the mingling with other local professionals that you expect from an LA UPA event.

Our fabulous panelists include:

Barbara Barclay, Tobii
Leslie Chacon, User First
Jay Zaltzman, Bureau West
Tim Ash, Attention Wizard

Location provided by Ogilvy & Mather in Culver City, and refreshments provided by Artisan Creative. Thank you to our generous sponsors!

Paid parking (max charge of $10) is available inside the business park, or street parking is free (be sure to read the posted signs, though). To find the office: Look for a building on Hayden that says Samitaur. The entrance to Ogilvy is in the rear of this building. So enter the complex next to the parking booth (the Samitaur building will be on your left), and walk around to the back of the building. The entrance is through a pair of red doors at the back of the Samitaur building.

I thought this meetup was interesting and informative. The only thing I would have liked was to have more stations set up to test the software, or perhaps just a better way to view the software in use - perhaps a projection screen...

This session had everything that makes for a good event: multiple competent presenters, a tight schedule, product demos, good tips and tricks, honest sharing of what works with clients, and even red wine.

Again, a really well put together UPA event! I did the mistake and read up too much about the subject beforehand, so not much was new to me, but I really appreciate Kathryn & Co providing these events, it's a tremendous value for every UX practicioner's career.

Great panelists covering 4 ways to approach the evaluation problems when using eye-tracking.
Would love to know more on how eye-tracking data coordinates and/or verifies (or does not) with the canon of design and content rules developed over the years.

Bummed that I'm missing this, but just like Jill, don't want to spread my germs. Looking forward to the presentation notes.

Ugh. Hate to miss this one, but I'm fighting off a bug of some kind - don't want to push myself - or share my lovely germs! Looking forward to a full report from my UPA cohorts.

Good question Ed. It would be great to have all of the events have some type of slide share or video after the fact. We have done this once or twice in the past, but it would be nice to get some more consistency.

Is there anyone out there that has experience with this and or would like to take it on as an on-going task. This could extend to LA UX and IxDA events as well.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
