The Speak: Here at UX Speakeasy, we like to start each new year by talking about two things that can greatly help your UX career...networking and education.
You already know we are fans of connecting locally but we are also firm believers in getting out there to connect, share, and network with the larger UX community. Conferences are one of the best ways to do just that - great for your development and, perhaps more importantly, great for your career. We'll start overview of the 2014 UX conference schedule along with some recaps of last year’s events given by real-life conference attendees of IxDA's Interaction 13, World IA Day LA, SXSW Interactive, IA Summit, and MidwestUX to name a few.
Lisa K will then give us a look at opportunities for continuing your UX education. This field changes rapidly and one of the best things you can do is keep learning...always. The good news is there are many new educational opportunities out there from immersive workshops for newbies to online workshops for grizzled UX trenchfighters.
Finally, we get a preview of this year's IA Summit, coming to San Diego this March. We are glad to have one of the biggest UX conferences here in our city and we're kinda going to make a big deal of it.
Join us in January. UX Speakeasy is here to help you create some New Year’s UX Resolutions.

The Easy: Modern Times Beer - Lomaland Fermentorium
Modern Times is a 30bbl production brewery and tasting room in the Point Loma neighborhood of San Diego. Modern Times is named after a beautifully crazy utopian community founded in 1850, and (almost) all of their beers are named after real utopian experiments or mythological utopias.
The brewery was founded by Jacob McKean, a beer geek, former Stone Brewing Co. employee and long-time homebrewer, along with crack team of consultants consisting of illustrious graphic designers, vicious attorneys, a slightly unhinged kombucha-obsessed real estate agent, one faraway brewing prodigy, a pricey architect, a gregarious general contractor, and (a bit later in the process) three outstanding brewers.
Food Options: In true San Diego style, Street Tacos will be available to purchase from the awesomely tasty Del Mar Taco Company.
