Gallery at The BGC

Invites Glass NYC to a night of

Wateverweavers #ThroughGlass

The Art Gallery Experience with Google Glass

**If you see a waitlist, please join it and we will add you as space becomes available.

Come experience Art through Google Glass!  Han Vu and Zack Freedman have teamed up with the Gallery at BGC and Glass NYC to create a modern art gallery/museum experience using the image recognition technology of Google Glass.

This creative experience was designed for the advancement of art education and is part of the not-for-profit activities of the BGC Gallery.

Note: We will  provide a link and instructions to side-load the  Glass app onto your device, and some assistance will be available at the reception as well.  More information will provided as we get closer to the event date.

Waterweavers: The River in Contemporary Colombian Visual and Material Culture

Using the trope of the river as a conceptual device to explore the intersections in Colombian contemporary culture between art, craft, and design, Waterweavers reveals the intricate ways in which culture and nature can intertwine across disciplines. Curated by José Roca, Estrellita B. Brodsky Adjunct Curator of Latin American Art at Tate Modern and Artistic Director of FLORA ars+natura in Bogotá, with the assistance of independent writer and editor Alejandro Martín, the exhibition presents textiles, ceramics, graphic design, furniture, video, and installations to address a concept informed by social, political, and ecological strife in Colombia: the river.

Hi Katy, is it possible to get glass for free to test and develop apps for? I work for a university

      April 29

    • Katy K.

Hi Debra, I don't know of any specific programs at this time, but if you are working on a particular research project you should look into getting a relevant sponsor or grant. I have heard of others doing so.

The app was fast to recognize pictures even i was looking half of it. If it is not able to recognize then it goes in some wait time and you might want to put some validation or time out. Also this app need XE16.X version and doesn't work on older version which is being shipped with glass. It throws exception and you can fix the msg atleast. sorry, can't help i am software tester :-)

Huge round of applause for Katy and crew! It was another great event showcasing another killer new use for Glass. They went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure everyone had the app loaded and a Glass to preview it with!
