When did you first become interested in the ukulele?

When I was a kid, maybe 9 or 10, I wanted and got a little red ukulele from Woolworths for Christmas. I'm not sure what drew me to it, but I think the old ukulele book I found in my dad's garage greatly influenced me. And playing four strings didn't seem too hard.

Who is your favorite ukulele artist/group?

Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, Jake Shimabukuro, Sarah Maisel, Kris Fuchigami, Ralph Shaw, Victoria Vox. More to come...

Are you a beginner or more advanced player?

Advanced beginner.

How many ukuleles do you own? :O

Ten so far. One I inherited from my husband's family, eight were purchased, and one was a gift from a higher power (I won the 2011 Reno Ukefest grand prize DaSilva ukulele). You can't argue with a higher power when it places something a beautiful, handmade, custom ukulele in your hands!

What is your favorite type of music?

Good music is good music, regardless of age or genre.

Introduction

In my youth, I taught myself to play basic ukulele and guitar from books. Forty+ years later I retired, found this group (thank you Lynn), and my life has never been the same.
