Ice Dragons Centenary Event

We have been asked to play for 20 - 30 minutes for the blessing of the outrigger canoes, most of which have Hawaiian names. Free food and drinks for us, as well as a ride in an outrigger canoe or dragon boat if we want. Lots of VIP's and exposure for URoC.

Suggested play list:

Pearly Shells

Little Brown Gal

White Sandy Beach of Hawaii

Moonlight Swim

Blue Hawaii

Moonlight

Honolulu Rock-a Roll-a

Sunny Afternoon

Bye Bye Love

Mudsteppin

Midnight Special

Aloha Oe

I thought we played and sang pretty well - shame about the audience who, by and large, ignored us while they did their boat blessing and bootcamp warm-ups. Is it just that the people who invited us had absolutely no idea how much time, practice and other preparation goes into a performance, or ...?

One gets hardened playing to one person or no-one at Queanbeyan Tigers Club. In this context the Outrigger gig was luxury...

... and at least three cyclists stopped and listened!

Instead of Lovely Hula hands we are playing Moonlight swim.
    That's correct Michael?

Yes, quite right Lorraine. Have changed the playlist now.

Hi Michael and all - I don't seem to have the music for Pearly Shells. Is it me or has this one not been posted to Files yet? Thanks, Susan

Busy trying to learn the tunes/words of our repertoire, and Youtube has been very helpful. Check this out, it's a real delight:

On the other - side of the 'longlo

Do we need to know these off by heart or can we use music?

    April 15, 2013

    • Michael R.

We will be using music - one stand between 3, but the direction we are heading in is to learn most songs off by heart, probably still with music stands but looking at the audience most/all of the time

Hawaii Five-O would be more than appropriate - here's a link to the tab http://ukulelehunt.com/2009/10/01/hawaii-five-0-simplified-tab/

    Should this be 11.00am????

    April 15, 2013

    • Michael R.

Yes, I changed it. Originally looked like almost a midnight swim!

      April 15, 2013

  • Don D.

I see it's been changed from the email...may've been a bit chilly in an outrigger approaching midnight. That really would've been a midnight special.
