Perform at St James Centre Fundraising Event -proceeds to Pegasus

The crew at St James Centre Curtin are having an afternoon tea fundraiser for the charity Pegasus.  They have invited the groups that use the centre and other people from their parish.  They are asking that the music groups provide some entertainment in return for afternoon tea.  We are asked to play for 20-25 minutes.

We are planning to play the same playlist (probably less a couple of songs) as we will play at Floriade the previous afternoon.

    Part 2 of post -

Good that we pretty well had a full house. And it was clear to me that the audience very much enjoyed the concert, including each of the performances. I thought your group was received particularly warmly, one indicator of course being the request for encore but more particularly because they sang, tapped and swayed through most of your numbers. I personally enjoyed very much your bracket – the songs (one or two of which I had not heard for 20-30 years!), your presentation and sense of fun - as well as the opportunity for community singing. Thanks to you and the other members of your group for your contribution. Any observations on the afternoon you would care to make?

I hope you all enjoyed yourselves and got your share of the cakes. Perhaps we can do something similar some other time?

    Kind regards

    Hi guys,
here's the reply I got from Evan, a very well done to all:

Part 1 of post - Hi Charlie

I thought I would drop you a note to inform of the outcome of the concert at St James on Sunday and to thank you again for your group’s participation in the event.

First on the financial side, our takings so far are around $2,300. There is still a little money coming in while I understand other donations, arising out of the afternoon, have been paid directly to Pegasus. So we are very pleased with the financial outcome. My impression too was that the conversation which Margaret Morton, the Pegasus Exec Director, had with the MC as part of the concert and, more informally during the interval, raised peoples’ understanding of the Pegasus, the organisation, its role and needs. So overall a very good outcome for Pegasus which of course means a good outcome for the community.

I really loved performing at this gig. The fact that the audience were really getting into it made it really special and enjoyable.

More information about this event from St James/Pegasus: Our scheduled performance time is 4.30pm - we are the last act of the day and they would like us to send everyone away happy. We are invited to partake of afternoon tea, be there by 3pm if you want some. Otherwise turn up by 4.

There is a flyer going up about this event in files. The organisers are asking for us to forward this on to our friends and relatives. Those playing do not need to pay entrance contribution (unless you want to make a donation) but accompanying people are asked to pay.

I'm so there! I used to volunteer at Pegasus - it's a fabulous organisation that is truly deserving of support.
