Camping: 1 Night Camping Trip at Catskills Park with Optional Hike in am

  • July 17, 2010 · 6:30 PM

Catskills Park is breathtakingly beautiful in itself. There are streams we can enjoy after setting up our tents. It is on flat ground. Let's spend an evening watching the stars, eating s'mores, listening to the stream and all the wonderful sounds of nature and each other's company. The night air feels so crisp and relaxing. All the laughs and wonderful friendship memories we will create makes it even more worth it. In the morning we will visit Buttermilk Falls on Peekamoose Road before heading to Slide Mountain for the hike.

I am bringing all my food in a cooler. I am not cooking except for s'mores, of course. We will stop by a local store in the am to pick up ice/food for the hike, as needed.

The Slide Mountain hike for 7/18/2010 is posted separately:

What to bring:

Tent, sleeping bag/s, extra clothing, dinner/breaksfast, water, water and more water
bear bag(s), air mattress, pillows, as needed, flashlight, bug stray, cooking pots, as needed
lantern (I have one), childlike behavior...

Sleeping Option:
If you would like to hang out with everyone the night of the campout, but not sleep in the tents, this is a welcomed option. Feel free to research/stay at a nearby hotel/motel. In the am you may still join us for a hike, of course. If you choose this option, please indicate in your comments section. This will allow me to know if a permit is needed or not.

After an afternoon hike off route 9w and refreshing dip in a local swim hole, Herb and I joined the group at this idylic spot. Our own private site, with a large fire pit, plenty of room for tents and river access. Topped off with great company, we couldn't have asked for more....although next time I think Herb should play us some tunes on his ukulele and have a little sing along! thanks Moni for organizing.

Wow, we had such a wonderful time. Thank you Judy for finding the PERFECT spot, bringing the firewood, our protector Bradley and being you. Gay, thank you for the propane, batteries, great food and wonderful company. It was exciting for me to camp with everyone. Thank goodness Heike was there. I would have been completely lost in the am. We must go back to that spot to enjoy our own swim hole in a privately tucked away campground again. It was wonderful to meet Sharon. Heike, thanks for bringing Herb. it was great to spend time with you guys. Thank you for all the wonderful memories everyone. Mary, Will, Jeff we missed you guys. Next time... :>
