New Meetup: Wallkill Valley Rail Trail Bike Ride - New Paltz to Gardiner

Announcing a new Meetup for Ulster County Outdoors!

What: Wallkill Valley Rail Trail Bike Ride - New Paltz to Gardiner

When: June 20,[masked]:00 PM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: There are beautiful views of the Shawangunk Ridge, a bridge over the Plattekill Creek gorge, and a passage through an orchard! Round-trip distance is 10.6 miles. The trail is unpaved but fairly smooth - either a hybrid or fat-tire bike will be fine; wouldn't recommend skinny, high-pressure road bike tires.

We will start at the Village of New Paltz/NYS fishing access parking area located very close to the intersection of Plains Road with the rail trail. For more info, visit To see a map showing the parking area, go to the Trail Map tab, click the map at the top right, then click the red car labelled P3-P4. On the resulting map, we are meeting at the red car labelled P6.

Bring lunch or a hearty snack. We'll stop for lunch/snack at the bridge over the Plattekill Creek gorge, 1.5 miles into the ride. Fantastic view of the ridge and meadowland from here.

At 5.3 miles we'll arrive in Gardiner. Soft-serve ice cream & more available at Pasquale's; snacks available at the Village Market.

Option to continue another 2.5 miles (one-way) to Denniston Rd (trail's end) if everyone in the group wants to go.
