We'll meet and organize gear then take a shuttle to the Mohican Outdoor Center where we'll begin our hike Southbound back towards the trailhead/parking lot. This section of the Appalachian Trail has some amazing views and is a nice intro for people who have never backpacked before, the total mileage is low but we will be stopping for "trailside classroom time". During this 2 day course you'll learn basic wilderness survival (food, water, shelter, fire) and wilderness navigation (map & compass) while backpacking on the Appalachian Trail! This trip is being lead by Joey, the owner of Northeast Mountain Guiding so the instruction will be GREAT!
Cost for this meetup is $65.00 per person, $50.00 per person if you supply your own gear/equipment. If you are supplying your own gear call our office and we'll email you a paypal invoice What's included: tents, topographic maps, trail shuttle, group cooking gear, dinner for Saturday night and breakfast for Sunday morning. The only things not included are a sleeping bag and sleeping pad, compass and personal supplies. Please bring trail snacks and lunch for both days. If you plan on attending we'll email you a 'personal gear list' for the trip. I would recommend going to Eastern Mountain Sports and getting fitted for a backpack for the trip, they're only $25 to rent for the weekend and a proper fit is KEY to being comfortable on the trail.
We need 5 people for this trip to run. If you need any information call our NJ office at: (848)[masked]
