Final details for Saturday, April 20 – Come hang out and play a round of
Disc Golf with Jeff before he goes to South Carolina! Jeff has been a
regular at Ultimate since we started in March 2010 and often takes care of the
gear and handles the e-mails when I’m out of town.
Meet at 10:00 AM at New Quarter Park in Williamsburg (directions
below). We’ll play a round of disc golf on one of the top rated courses in
Virginia (costs $3 and take about 2 hours; we’ll have plenty of discs to borrow
if you need them) and then take Jeff to lunch somewhere. If you’re not
familiar with disc golf, it’s just like regular golf but you throw discs into
baskets instead of hit balls with clubs. And there’s no dress code.
No experience necessary.
Address & Directions: 1000 Lakeshead Drive, Williamsburg, VA
23185 It’s near the Queen’s Lake neighborhood and easily
accessible from the Colonial Parkway. Drive all the way to the end of the
park road and park in the lot (look for my silver truck) and meet up at the park
office (brick building) next to the basketball court.
to see you there. Call me with questions[masked]-3937.
Subject: Williamsburg Ultimate - Jeff's moving, social gathering
Our friend Jeff is heading to South Carolina on
April 27 for a new job. So let’s get together this Saturday, April 20
during the day to play some Disc Golf and then take him out to eat. I’m
thinking maybe 10:00 AM disc golf at either New Quarter Park in Williamsburg or
Newport News Park, then go to lunch somewhere. Don’t worry if you’ve never
played disc golf – it’s easy to learn and we have discs for people to use.
Final details to be announced later this week, but please let me know if you can
attend. I’ll post something on the Meetup site later this week and provide
We started this weekly Ultimate Frisbee pickup game in March 2010 for fun and exercise. Come on out if you've played a lot or if you've never played at all - we are open to all skills levels as long as you're willing to run. We have beginners and experienced players who play in multiple leagues.
We play every Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM all year 'round in the heat or cold. We pay for field lights in the winter when we can, otherwise we use lighted discs and lights around our necks in the dark. The only time we don't play on our regular Tuesdays is if it is storming or raining heavily at game time or if it is a major holiday. We've played in rain, heat, darkness, and once in 3 inches of snow. We have red and yellow pinnies to wear for teams, but please bring one red and one yellow or bright green shirt if you can.
We may be on a different field each week, so look around for us on either the turf or grass fields.
Also, we use this Meetup site for people to initially find us but not so much for communication and to actually show who attends. So don't worry that this site shows only 1 or 2 people attending - since late summer 2010 we've always had enough to play.
