Picture it...

"Dedicated venues. Three or more playing areas. Dozens or so musicians, chatting, drinking, jamming and layering on the sounds. Guitarists jamming with DJs. Keyboardists with violinists, and that one guy playing something you have never seen before, and it sounds weird!

You like the groove that guy is in. You play along. He plays along with you.  You chat a while and find out you are into the same bands. After a few weeks, you decide to form a band. And the rest is legendary..."

DJS - GUITARISTS - DRUMMERS - VOCALISTS - KEYBOARDS - SITARS - WHATEVER

The purpose of this group is to bring together musicians in the Toronto area in a social environment where they can meet new friends, chat about their craft, find band-mates and most importantly, JAM!

We aim to create something much more dynamic than a typical "open mic" night. Venus are chosen to accommodate MULTIPLE PLAYING AREAS, socialization, and the music will be "for the participants", and not for an audience. As such, free creativity will be encouraged, and "there will be noise". Events will not be performances, rather, free form jam sessions. Moderators will make sure that the volume levels are cool, and everything is going smoothly.

Who should join...
- Musicians who have a passion for creating new music, and who are not afraid of trying something different.
- Noobs are TOTALLY welcome.
- Those who like to play music with an edge to it. It can be rock, metal, electronica, indie pop, or whatever in between.
- Heavy, trippy, jangly, or whatever music is highly encouraged. Crank the gain to 11 and turn on the delay!

Who shouldn't join
- Musicians who are primarily concerned with playing in traditional styles with little patience for experimentation.
- If you think that "The Grateful Dead" is the greatest band in the world, this is probably not the place for you. Ditto for "Bob Dylan". Oldies are great, but we are looking for new stuff.
