I’ve been to two of those regions[Aosta {Val d’Aosta} and Trentino-Alto Adige] and after hearing the locals speak..
I changed my perception of the meaning of “dialect vs language”.
Whereas, I have only heard of Italians refer to “dialects”...in my own mind I think of some of these as “languages” because there are insufficient cognates between some of the “supposed dialects” to enable meaningful communications.
In my limited presence in Florence, the language was perfectly comprehensible except for a slight variation:
I heard the letter “c” pronouncede as an “h”.
    ?only when “c” occurred mid-word?.
    e.g. Amerihana NOT Americana.
    From my limited experience:
1] Dialects are spoken intra regions [e.g. different dialects of Tuscan...
    BUT
2] Languages are spoken inter regions.
I would welcome feedback from any of you who have had similar or contrary impressions.

I looked up by Wikipedia, Italy has 5 regions that are considered autonomous, it is part of the Italian Constitution and probably does not have the same meaning as we would. The 5 regions self fund their own health and education, it mentioned that this was to protect their local people...more can be learned from Wikipedia

The following may be of interest:
-to those who live nearby and/or
-when you want an Italian meal and Maria’ CUCINA IS CLOSED AND/OR
-for use occasionally for a "chiachierare session"

It is located on the North side of Big Beaver. It is the first building on right, as you drive West from
    I-75 [approximately one-tenth mile from I-75].
Free parking at the rear [enter driveway that is West of the restaurant] cont, in pt 2 of 2

It opened less than a year ago. I had known of it before I had met Maria Medoro but favored her
[when I had set up the
polenta and salsiccia meal in February] because I guessed that she might want help her business
memo:I assume “Pasta Seconds is back for just $13” means: pay for one meal and get a free 2nd meal.
