Newtown Festival 2013 (cancelled due to bad weather)

**********The MeetUp to the Newtown Festival is CANCELLED due to bad weather**********

For more info on the cancellation please read the comments section.

It’s that time of year again, Newtown Festival has descended upon us!

We will be meeting in the main front bar of the Bank Hotel (next to Newtown Station) at 12 noon. From there we will walk down to the festival which is held at Camperdown Memorial Rest Park.

There are a lot of stalls to see and multiple stages with various acts as well. Upon entry to the festival, feel free to meander around the place. At approximately 1:30 pm we will be setting up camp in front of the Federation Stage (main stage on the large field out the back), so if you lose track of us don’t despair we can meet up again there to watch some musical acts in the afternoon.

I totally recommend when at the Bank Hotel get chatting to some people and split off into smaller groups. Discovering the festival’s stalls doesn’t really work in large groups. We will merge again back at the main stage.

Things to bring: Sunscreen! It gets really hot in front of the stage. There is no shade. If you have a spare picnic blanket or sarong you wish to sit on, I suggest bringing that along. Also if you have a parasol/hat bring them too.

Keep in mind that entry to the festival is by gold coin donation. All funds that are raised go to the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre.

Remember, don't worry if you lose track of the group while wandering around the festival. Keep a leisurely pace. Keep an eye out for us in front of the main stage from approximately 1:30 pm onwards.

The rains are here! That's great news for the bush fires. Not so much for the Newtown Festival. Sorry that Mother Nature has dictated this outcome for today. I will still be having a beer at the Bank Hotel at midday if you're in the area. NB. it's the MeetUp only that has been cancelled. To the best of my knowledge the Festival is still going ahead. If you are keen to brave the rain then check out Camperdown Memorial Rest Park. Hopefully see all of you awesome people at another festival in the coming months! -Trish

(for those who may of missed this in your emails)

    Happy Friday everyone!

It seems mother nature isn’t agreeing with us for the Newtown Festival on Sunday. At present the weather forecast is for cold and rainy. As we all know with weather forecasts though, they can be wrong!

Unfortunately if it is raining then the MeetUp on Sunday won’t be going ahead. The rain will turn little ol Camperdown Memorial Rest Park into something rivaling Glastonbury.

If the weather is being indecisive, I will still be heading to the Bank Hotel at midday for a drink. While we are there we can work out whether to carry onto the festival or enjoy a relaxing afternoon with some beverages in Newtown.

Keep an eye out on the MeetUp page for this event for any updates.

Hopefully see you all on Sunday!
