CAMPING in the vines by the lake at VIN DU LAC

HELLLLOOOOO WINOS!!

3 years ago about a dozen of us Winos camped out at Wilridge Vineyards in the Naches Heights AVA. With 7 tents, 1 Honey Bucket, an outdoor shower, a gas grill and a HUGE deck, I'm pretty sure we had a blast. We still talk about that weekend to this day. We visited all sorts of wineries from Red Mountain to Rattlesnake Hills to Yakima and I believe I got to lay out on I90 in a stand still traffic jam on our way home. SO...Let's do it again!!!

This camping trip will be hosted by Larry Lembecker and Vin du Lac Winery in the Lake Chelan AVA. We will have David Traynor (Asst. Winemaker @Vindulac) give us a production facility tasting out of barrels and stainless steel tank, you will meet almost every winemaker in Chelan/Manson (Just ask Pam) and yes there is a Shower/toilet cabana along with a swimming pool.

Dogs are allowed, but remember, there may be other dogs there and they MUST get along somehow. Guiness, Porter, and Fozzy have passed their tests. :)

The last time we did this I capped the event off to 20. Unfortunately 8 people either flaked out or RSVPed "NO" only hours from the time we should have been there. SO...This time I'm going to ask that if you KNOW you can go RSVP "Yes". Absolutely come with us!! If you are not sure what you're doing that date or if you think something may come up?!? RSVP "No". I really don't want to see the same thing happen here as it did in Naches. Please! If you really have to cancel, please try to give 4 to 5 day notice as there will be a "waiting list" and I'm sure someone else would love to have your spot. I'd hate to have to remove anyone's account, but that's what I will feel I need to do as a result of "flaking out", "forgetting", "blowing-off the event" or otherwise failing to show without cancelling your RSVP. Just wouldn't be fair to others who would enjoy this event with a limited number of available spots.

More on this event to be posted soon!!

I just got a chance to go through the photos, how awesome was that? Very awesome! What a wonderful opportunity for you all to camp in the vineyards, Chelan looked certainly gorgeous and I hope you appreciated the grapes that grow in that area.

Antoine can I assume there will be some kind of barbecue pit for charcol grilling or a gas grill to cook on. I ask because this isn't a normal public campground where one is usually provided at each site.

I just opened up the RSVPs to include 2 guest per wino and up to 50, just in case we get any groups that wanna join us. ALSO: Please remember to bring your Tent, camping gear, and anything else you all can think of. Maybe a bottle opener and some glasses may be in order as well. Hope you all have fun.

I actually was thinking of getting up really early Saturday and getting up there by 10 AM I figure you wouldn't starting any tasting till at least 11. Then I wouldn't have to deal with the traffic leaving Friday at 6

    August 10

  • Jay

Is that 7PM at the winery if so will not be able to be there by then I have to work till 4 PM can't get the time off. So by the time I get home from the city to Bothell it will be close to 5 and getting my stuff together 6 to 6:30. With about a 3 hour more like 4 when you include traffic and dinner stop to Chelan I wouldn't get there till 10 to 10:30

  • Antoine P.

    You're not going Diana?!?

    August 9

  • Darcy

So excited to be going on this camping trip for wine lovers!! Is there anything else I need to know? We're each driving on our own and just meet up there? Any costs that have to be prepaid?

    August 8

    • Antoine P.

There's no cost to the camping site AS I KNOW OF. Let's just respect the winery and it's vineyard. I really try to have free attending events. It's pretty much been the Winos way since it's inception.

      August 9

    • Antoine P.

My recommendation is to bring whatever you'd bring if you were camping. BTW: THERE IS A BURN-BAN in Chelan. Obviously!

    LOGO is here....;-)

  • Vivian B.

This is my first Winos event and what a way to start - a weekend away. Two questions:
    1. Do I need to have a copy of the logo with me for the weekend?
    2. When will details be provided such as where to meet up and targetted arrival time.
Thanks for your patience with the newbie.

  • Carol

So where do we get "Winos" logo stuff?

    July 15

  • Stacy

  • Stacy

I am going to be a maybe right now. Until my house situation gets figured out and I have a move date I can't commit to anything. I really want to do this though.
