Following his critically acclaimed ‘American Motel’ residency at Leicester Square Theatre, Ezra Axelrod headlines London’s Jazz Café on May 30th accompanied by his eight-piece Motel Band.
Committed to bringing audiences a unique music experience, Ezra has partnered with sensational TheWanderingChef.co.uk, who will take over the Jazz Café balcony restaurant during the concert to serve up an American Diner/French fusion meal inspired by the artist’s music.
The Wandering Chef is a pop-up restaurant project by Jamie Hazeel and Lalie Jacout, focused on whimsical, exciting and creative dining experiences. The Jazz Cafe event will recreate American Diner classics through the lens of French cuisine.
Ezra Axelrod is an independent singer-songwriter who made his first splash on the London music scene last year with a month-long residency at the Leicester Square Theatre to promote the release of debut album ‘American Motel’, and recently opened for acts like Sixpence None the Richer, Walk Off the Earth and the Grande Mothers of Invention.
Hailing from an isolated town in Eastern Oregon, Ezra traveled to Colombia in 2011 to record ‘American Motel’ with a large of ensemble of the country’s top musicians. The end result was a record full of gritty stories of wanderlust, sordid encounters in roadside dives, and raw sincerity through a mix of folk, rock and classical piano (www.soundcloud.com/ezraaxelrod).
The debut headlining show at Jazz Café sees Ezra previewing material from his forthcoming album, experimenting with a guitar- and drums-driven sound that fuses classic R&B and Soul influences with his distinct folk-rock style.
