  • Feb 26, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • Illinois Institute of Technology - Rice Campus

NEW TOPIC

UniForum Chicago is proud to announce the topic for the February 26, 2012 General meeting: "Mojolicious - Making Web Development Easy with Perl" by Jeff Jirsa.

Our meetings are free and open to the public and begin promptly at 7pm at the IIT Rice Campus in Wheaton, IL.  Additional information regarding this presentation can be found at  http://www.uniforumchicago.org

Hope to see you there!

ABSTRACT

Whether you are looking for a full stack framework like Ruby on Rails, or you just want to keep using your Perl skills, writing web applications using Mojolicious makes development a breeze with features like RESTful routes, simple rendering of output (to HTML, text, JSON, or XML), and a built-in web server.

Once we have finished, we will adjourn to nearby Cozymel's Mexican restaurant for food and drinks.

BIO

Jeff Jirsa is a senior developer at Comcast, writing web applications for monitoring system health. He programs with one of the three P's (PHP, Perl, Python) in the LAMP stack, but is also familar with compiled languages like C and C++.

Jeff's demos of Mojolicious drove home its facilities and few limitations. I have not written a web application, but I would try writing my first one with Mojolicious.
