Humanist Roots Group Potluck & Discussion: Ways to Grow Ourselves

Our next meeting is on April 6th in Fireside room at 6 pm. It’s an all-discussion meeting on the topic "Ways to Grow Ourselves.” A rare opportunity to learn different paths of personal transformation, from our unbiased and experienced peers.

For some of us, changing ourselves is a must, in order to stop the un-escapable personal suffering. For some of us, it’s too tempting to deny, hide or distract ourselves from facing the not-so-presentable parts of ourselves. In this case, growing ourselves is a statement of taking responsibility, for us and people around us, as we realize our problems inevitably become problems of people around us.

Sounds too austere? Perhaps you’ll be intrigued by the following. Some growth paths require travelling back to the past, some paths ask to stay completely in the present. Some seem nurturing, while some appear impersonal. Some engage in thinking, some avoid thinking. To paint various methods with words: slogans, insights, understandings, healing, transcending, imagination, self-observation, self-examination, self-expression, art, sound, and movement. How do they work? What is the best path for us?

For the potluck, please bring a dish of your choice: salad, vegetable, meat, or dessert. Our meeting usually have 15 attendees.
Agenda:
6:00 PM wine and hors d'oeuvres
6:30 to 7:05 potluck
7:05 to 8:30 group discussion

This was my second meeting. Unfortunately, had to leave early when my daughter was hospitalized, just when people were starting to open up. Lots of helpful advice from people who have "been there."

Hope you both enjoy the evening, Elisa. I won't be there (I'm just doing the MeetUp posting), but there should be a good group, some of whom are active at UUCPA and others of whom are Humanists who attend that group but aren't otherwise involved at UUCPA. Take care,
