United Hope for Animals' Glamor Shot Days: Downey Edition!
*Note: Downey Animal Care Center Glamor Shot Days are for experienced volunteers who have completed the LA County Department of Animal Care and Control's Training.
Help us save the lives of homeless pets by lending a hand on a UHA Glamor Shot Day. Work with us at the shelter to handle dogs and cats, name them, socialize with them and get to know their personalities, and hold them for photography and video. We also need expert photographers (**must be pre-approved**) and videographers who are good at narration. (If you don't mind speaking on camera, we'll train you to do the rest.) We provide doughnuts and encouragement, and you bring your self in a sturdy pair of jeans and shoes you don't mind getting a little dirty. :)
A note for new volunteers: If you are new to UHA and are interested in volunteering at Downey, please fill out our volunteer application (http://www.unitedhope4animals.org/volunteer/volunteer-application/) and sign up to attend a Glamour Shot Day and training at Baldwin Park first.
Every two weeks we take Glamor Shots and videos of up to 80 dogs and cats, and 94% of these homeless pets are adopted or rescued as a result. There are plenty of behind-the-scenes volunteer roles that are necessary to make this result possible. We need volunteers to upload videos to YouTube, post pet profiles to Petfinder, write stories for our website and more! If you are interested in helping out the Downey team via a computer or telephone, please let us know. We'll find the right job for you!
I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
