March Meet-Up

  • Hey Guys!

We've got another Unity meet-up planned, so come, network, and chat about some Unity stuff.  We have a TON of news, so before you TL;DR here they are, separated by paragraph:

I will be showing off my Scene Slicing plug-in at the meet-up.  It's publicly available on the Unity Asset Store for a very indie-friendly price of $20.

PI-Jam is a FREE game jam occurring on PI day (March 14th).  Come, join me and dozens of others and make a game in 48 hours.  I will be on-site to help anyone who's having trouble with Unity issues, so it's a great time to experiment with some new Unity functionality.  Speaking of, check out my blog post which covered typical Unity mistakes made during GGJ 2014.

Frost.IO has launched a Kickstarter for their Unity2HTML5 plug-in.  You may remember Frost.IO sponsored some previous Unity meet-ups and this Kickstarter campaign is a much more sophisticated version of their demo -- you can fully port a Unity project to HTML5.

If you want to PRESENT, send me a message with what you'd like to present on.

Finally, if you're a Unity3D programmer looking for work, feel free to reach out as we're constantly getting requests from companies for programmers.  Or better yet, come to the meet-up and meet them in person! :)

I must be the only idiot who didn't get that email. Oh well, I had my own one person meetup at the nearby Starbucks.

Tickets are available now for the MashUp Demo Night here: http://demomashup.eventbrite.com/

The event takes place on Wednesday, April 14th at The Pint downtown and is a chance to check out the latest and greatest from local gamedev companies. Tickets are free, but space is limited, so make sure to sign up on EventBright if you're interested in going. (We're still building our list of companies who are Demo'ing, so if you're interested in that, email [masked] and I'll get back to you with more details on that)

Hey all, over here at ComboMash we've been talking about how Vancouver-at-large needs to hear a lot more about the exponentially growing Indie Game Development scene. On that note we're going to be hosting a swanky party in mid-April to bring together all the local gaming companies in the same place with local (and not-so-local) media outlets.

It's going to be an awesome night of game demos, awkward nerd dancing, drinking, sweet sweet door prizes, and networking opportunities galore.

Venue details (date/place) are still being finalized but we're targeting the April 16/17 zone.

If you're interested having your company be involved, are so stoked about the idea that you want to volunteer on the organizing committee, or you just want to be keep in the loop with updates, fire me an email at [masked]

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
