Introduction

I am a Nashville native, new to the Dallas/Ft.Worth area. I have a background including dance and management (most notably in restaurants and retail).

Have you had training in acting, voiceovers, public speaking, communication skills, teaching, singing, or other performance arts subjects?

In addition to dance, I have studied improv acting, public speaking, pantomime, and voice overs.

Why do you want to learn more about being a voiceover performer? This group is for those who seriously want to enter this work field.

I enjoy using my voice to convey messages. I think the voice is an amazing instrument, capable of much more than we think on a day-to-day basis. I have had performance where the audience is very up close and personal but all I could use to convey my meaning was my body movement and facial expression. I love the challenge of now reversing that technique!

Do you know that this is not a "get rich quick" industry but requires training and an interest in and knowledge of starting a small business? Do you have the time needed to do this as a business? The funding? The entrepreneurship knowledge?

My business bachelor's degree in management included my focus in entrepreneurship. Every single member of my immediate family is or has been an entrepreneur. I have used entrepreneurship to book my entertainment jobs, sell t-shirts and embroidery, as well as landscape and construction jobs. Small business is not a way to get rich quick…it often is not be a way to get rich at all. But I have left working full-time for someone else and finally have the opportunity to give this all I have. I have the support and the drive.

What do you earn money doing at the present time? List jobs in a general way (i.e., teacher, salesperson, minister, drama coach, etc.).

My move took place less than a month ago. I am currently interviewing for local part-time positions in fields including fitness, entertainment, and even at an airline.

Have you used your voice in a public way (acting, radio TV, speaking, performing, telephone, trainer or teacher, salesperson, etc?) Please discuss briefly.

In addition to the work I did with improv, I have portrayed characters for corporate parties and hotel conventions. I have been a spokesperson for a professional football team, had my voice used in 3 national television advertisements, and had on-air experience with 2 radio stations.
