Untangling Rails (workshop)

This month we've got something slightly different for you – Rosario Rascuna will be teaching a crash course in Ruby on Rails. You'll be learning how to code a simple CRUD application and understand the Model/View/Controller architecture.

Rosario worked as a freelance software developer for several startups in Brighton and London. He's the developer of the London Startup Map and Codersumo, an online community of coders solving programming puzzles. He currently teaches programming at Coderwave. You can follow him on @_sarhus.

You'll  need to bring your own laptop with a version of Ruby (1.9) and Rails (3.x) installed. You can easily install those programs using this link: http://railsinstaller.org/en

Note: Mac OSX Mavericks users! Follow this guide instead: http://learn.coderwave.com/ruby...

If you've got any problems or questions don't hesitate to contact Rosario or ourselves. Please note that as this is a workshop places are extremely limited. If you can't make it cancel your RSVP and allow someone else to attend.

I also don't mean to sound so negative but people please if you are not going to turn up, un-rsvp yourself. Because of you guys quite a few number of people on waiting list didnt get a chance to turn up. It is very selfish to hold on to a RSVP

the meetup was good, just a suggestion we could have more of these learning type of meetups. We could build a website or an app.. go a bit deeper..

I was on the wait list for a long time. So I thought I could not go. I have just noticed that my rsvp has changed to yes. Apologies for not attending. .. It was something I really wanted to come to. Rosario is there a way an email can be sent when you are moved from wait list to rsvp?

Apologies Sameera that's a quirk of meetup. Did you receive an email from me mentioning we had changed the RSVP limit? It works on first come first serve so it changed the next 10 people on the waitlist to yes

Can anybody not make it? I'm on the waiting list and eager.

At this moment there are 10 people. Now that may change but I doubt it. Feel free to come if you want

quick message. If you've got any problems installing the software, do get in touch! I forgot to mention you'll need a text editor. Sublime Text is a good one: http://www.sublimetext.com you'll need to install that too.

looking forward to meeting you all,

    Hi Everyone!

Happy to see so many people! Few notes about the workshop:

We'll cover the very basic of a Ruby on Rails application. I'd suggest you to bring your own laptop and install the software beforehand (there won't be time to do it during the workshop).

You need to have a version of Ruby (1.9), Rails (3.x) installed. You can easily install those programs using this link: http://railsinstaller.org/en

Note: Mac OSX Mavericks users! Follow this guide instead: http://learn.coderwave.com/ruby...

Please do get in touch with me in case you have any problems during the installation. I'm [masked]. have a great sunday, and looking forward to meeting you all,
