Gottaswing Charlotte is proud to host the Hot Tamale Swing Dance Weekend this March 28-30. This high energy workshop weekend will feature classes on three different types of swing dancing during the day, and social dances to two live bands at night. The classes will be on Collegiate Shag (very different from Carolina Shag), Solo Jazz Dancing, and Charleston. We're excited to offer a historic event that will include many "firsts," such as:
-the first ever concert by an electroswing band in Charlotte. The band (named "Good Co.") performs with 5 jazz musicians and a DJ all on stage at the same time. Here's one of their music videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGL-9pfMww4 -the first swing dance weekend to include classes on Collegiate Shag in Charlotte -the first Tamale Eating Contest at a swing dance weekend -the first performance by the Ethan Uslan Band at a swing dance event. You may know Ethan from his performances on "A Prairie Home Companion" or with the Charlotte Symphony. He is a world champion ragtime pianist, here is a clip of a solo performance of his: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCfGXwx1mJs
