Tell us a little about yourself and why you want to join Urban Bohemian?

My husband & I moved to the area in 2011 and we didn't know many people here, particularly creative and intellectual types, and friends without kids. I am interested in all of the topics listed on "We're about", so figured I might find some new friends to spend time and share ideas with. My husband also travels a lot, and although they never seem to tire of me, my dogs can only provide so much deep conversation. . .

Where are your most favorite destinations to travel ?

So far, New Zealand, New Mexico, and New Orleans. . . I guess I never have to worry about going somewhere new. . . Germany is really awesome too. Honestly though, my places to visit list gets ever longer because I rarely scratch places off after I've been. I'd especially love to get to India, Nepal & Tibet someday, as well as several areas in Africa and southeastern Europe. Oh-- and Cornwall, England.

What kinds of activities do you like to do on your spare time?

Listen to live music, drink wine, watch indie & art films, try new restaurants, paint, bake, travel, study natural health remedies & treatments.

What city did you grow up in and what do you love most about this city?

I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska which is an amazing experience to look back on now. It gave me such an interesting perspective on things and I had the most amazing wilderness literally out my backdoor. I spent 6 years going to university in Lawrence, KS, which I consider my other hometown. After graduation, I spent 10 years in Oklahoma, where I grew to realize how grossly I did not fit in with the general population. I am loving Dallas for its never ending arts & music opportunities, as well as the food and cultural diversity.

Where did you hear about this group?

I just Googled "Dallas meetups" and this one looked interesting.

Introduction

Moved to DFW in 2011 and wanted like to meet some fun, creative and progressive thinkers. I have a background in visual art education and painting, but love all of the arts. I'm an instructor and studio manager at a BYOB painting studio.
