Seed Swap For This Year's Planting

The seed catalogs keep on coming! If you're like me, you have circles and marks in all of them and are trying to cull down the ridiculously long lists!
Often, the amount of seed in a packet is too much for our space and those seeds end up wasted. Instead of saving them for next year or throwing them out, let's share what we don't need in trade for something else to try growing.
I'll have baggies, markers and pads to make notes on sowing instructions for the seeds you get. I'll also have some handouts and info on successful seed starting and items I've found to be useful.
Appetizers & beverages provided.

Looking forward to seeing everyone! We're still in unpacking mode so things won't be perfect, but will be nice!

I'm bringing about 40 lbs of Dahlia tubers. They are edible as Terry shared with us and pretty too! Will also bring some of the seeds left over from the last swap since we have so many new people coming. Can't wait to meet everyone and see your new place Gail!

Hanna, I'd be happy to take some ornamentals off your hands, since I have large open spaces in my front yard where I'm removing lawn.

Would this meetup be for swapping plants as well? I have some ornamental flowers to give away and some raspberries I'm currently re-homing and will have a few extra to barter with too?

Its a little early for me to RSVP for an event in Olympia, but I hope to be able to attend. I just bought some Mexican Strain Tomatillo seeds (ideal for salsa verde). I have never grow tomatillos before. I am getting excited for the planting season! I usually start seeds indoors as early as February but I am trying something different this year. I am going to start seeds as late as possible to minimize the time they have to spend in pots. I frequently get busy and leave them too long in the pots, which doesn't help them. I have a couple of cloches in the garden I can put over more delicate seedlings.

I also just bought my snow pea and snap pea seeds, because as they say in the Seattle Tilth Gardening Guide, "Plant Your Peas By Presidents' Day!"

Tomatillos are great and do very well here. They DO self seed and spread, though, so keep that in mind. Hope you can make it!

This is only our second year w space to garden. We would love to come to this but don't have a seed stock pile. I also wouldn't want to come empty handed. With that, is there any seeds in high demand that I can buy and share :)

    February 3, 2013

Whether you have seeds to share or not, please come. That goes for everyone! It's an opportunity to meet each other and share the excitement of planning this year's gardens.

This time I'll try not to leave the seeds on my kitchen counter!
