When I started this group in September of 2012, I truly had no idea how many people would join me in the pursuit of living in a more responsible, self-sufficient and authentic way. The response was immediate and enthusiastic and I saw that I'd hit upon a philosophy of living that many of us knew was a place to which we needed to return.
I've worked to make this group relevant, interesting and fun. Above all, FUN! Many of you have become great friends and I continue to meet interesting, vibrant, COOL people through this group. Some of you are farmers with livestock and land, some are apartment dwellers who grow herbs in window boxes, others are working toward dreams of land stewardship, some work with organizations supporting the sustainability model. I learn from every one of you and this group is about sharing our knowledge with each other.
And so, I invite you to come to our urban farm and spend an afternoon with friends old and new, share the bounty of the season and continue to learn from each other. I will have some surprise guest speakers during the first hour, followed by food, drink and wandering. I will provide chicken skewers and tofu skewers on the BBQ. Please bring a dish of your choice to share. If you have surplus harvest, seeds, preserves, books, etc. to share, please bring those, too!
I do ask that, if you RSVP Yes, you honor your commitment, or at least let me know as soon as possible if things change and you cannot make it. The hardest part about running this group has been no-shows. A LOT of work goes into each and every meetup. Please be courteous to me, as the organizer, as well as your fellow members. Thank you to each one of you for all you do to promote Urban Farming and Sustainability. Really, these are just labels for a way of life that used to be the way life just WAS.
See You All Soon!
