Let's hike from Glen Park BART to McLaren Park where we can do the Philosopher's Way trail that runs the perimeter of the park. This trail was just finished in January.
"At key points of the trail lie 14 markers made by stonemason George Gonzalez - who, with Richards, built the wave organ near the Exploratorium. The Philosopher's Way markers, called "musing stations," try to evoke perspectives on history and are intended to stimulate contemplation." After completing the trail we will head to Bernal Heights and climb Bernal Hill to see the incredible views. Then we will descend around 4:30 or 5 for Happy Hour on Cortland Avenue.
We will take a lunch break in McLaren Park, so bring a lunch or snack if you will be hungry.
We will depart Glen Park BART at 12:40 sharp and latecomers can try to take MUNI to Mission and Silver to try and catch up with us as we pass by.
For those wishing to return to a BART station or need help with MUNI, I can help you with directions.
There will be hills, stairs and uneven terrain on this hike.
Hope to see you there!
