Haight Ashbury History Walk Plus Surrounding Hills

If you would like to do an urban hike on Sunday rather than watching the football game, join me for a history walk of the Haight Ashbury neighborhood. After the historic part, we will climb some of the surrounding hills in the area. Happy hour will be around 5 or 5:30 in the Upper Haight area.

We will meet at Bus Stop Pizza located at Haight and Divisadero. We will be outside on the sidewalk. You can get to our starting point on MUNI routes 24, 6, 71. Please see the transit 511 website for further details.

The history part of the walk is from the book Historic Walks in San Francisco and will take us from the era when there was an amusement park and farming to the rock and roll and hippie days of the 60's and beyond. We will take a snack break so bring some food if you will be hungry. Latecomers can try to catch up with us at our first stop which will be at 1111 Oak Street between Divisadero and Broderick. After that it will be quite difficult to catch up with us because I can't lead a hike and guide latecomers at the same time. Hope to see you there.

Do you know approximately where we will end the hike because I would like to park my car in the Upper Haight near where we will end up.

We are going to play it by ear with regard to our end point and happy hour destination. It will probably be somewhere in the Upper Haight near Haight and Ashbury or Haight and Masonic. Given the large group and the football game that day we will leave it open. Does anyone have any suggestions for HH?

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
