What we’re about

We like to do urban hikes mostly on week-end afternoons and sometimes on weekday evenings. Week-end walks usually start at 1 or 2 at a public transportation friendly starting point and end around 5:30ish with a get together afterwards so that we can get to know each other after so many hours of walking. The after hike gathering is optional and non-drinkers are welcome. Some of our walks are dog friendly. Sometimes, we just go on a random urban adventure. We also like movies/films/art and we may schedule some film or art events as well.

About our Walks: We walk at a medium pace. We do lots of hills, hidden staircases and urban trails/dirt paths that you might not expect in the city. We use the SF Staircase Walk book for lots of our ideas. We sometimes venture over to the East Bay and Marin for our hikes. The majority of our walks are point A to B and we don't normally return to the starting point.

Important Information:  If you are late for a hike, it is very hard to catch up with us, because we keep moving.  We walk at a medium pace. Escorts (also known as sweeps) are not provided, so slower walkers should be completely prepared to finish the hike on their own if they become separated from the group, and they may want to consider bringing a friend to walk with them.  We reserve the right to make small changes to the route as needed.

Pedestrian Safety: In 2017, 20 pedestrians were killed on the streets of San Francisco. Do not become a tragic statistic. You are solely responsible for your own safety as walker and it is your sole responsibility to obey all traffic laws. Do not cross against a traffic light just because you are walking with a group! You will need to catch up once the traffic light allows you to proceed.

Liability Disclaimer: The organizers of this meet-up are unpaid volunteers and not expert hiking guides. All participants agree to assume 100% responsibility for their own safety, conduct, health and well-being and recognize that possible hazards exist while participating in outdoor (or any other) activities, and agree to participate solely at their own risk. If you RSVP “Yes” and/or attend any of our events, it shall be conclusively presumed that you understand and agree to this policy.

Signing Up for Events: It is required that you sign up for any event that you attend unless you have permission from the Event Organizer to show up without signing up. If you experience technical difficulty in signing up, please message the Event Organizer.

No Show Policy: No-shows are not appreciated. Chronic no-shows are really not appreciated. If you sign up for an event and find you can no longer attend, please change your RSVP to NO. Chronic no-shows will be disallowed from signing up for future events. Thanks for your understanding.

Dog Information: If you ask us if you can bring a dog, and we say yes, this just means that we don't mind if you bring your dog. It does not mean that we have scoped out the entire route to see if there are any signs prohibiting dogs. You will need to keep your eyes out for these signs and you may need to reroute and meet us later on the route. You are 100% responsible for any issues or consequences regarding your dog on the hike or event.

ID, and Cash Only Policies, and the After Hike Gathering: Some of the places where we go after our hikes require ID for entry, regardless of your age. Please bring your ID if you plan to attend. Some of the places where we go after our hikes do not accept credit cards. Please bring cash, or be prepared to go in search of an ATM.
