Remember The Big Parade walks together as a group.
Supplies: Bring everything you need for this hike; water, food, suncreen, hats etc. While the route will go past many stores, you will not have time to stop and buy supplies.
There is a lunch break for about 30 minutes. But will be at a park/open space area, not a restaurant or near a store.
Restroom Breaks: There are three scheduled restrooms breaks, in public parks, along the route. Do not expect or assume you can use restrooms in stores or businesses along the route. There simply isn't enough time for everybody to use the restroom. In addition there are construction porta-potties along the route.
Expect a big crowd for The Big Parade. So arrive early to find parking or take public transit.
Since Day One of The Big Parade starts and ends at two different locations, the biggest question is; Where do I park my car?
The answer really depends on how much of The Big Parade you plan to do.
Since there are scheduled loops along the route, if you're going to join The Big Parade in progress, you can just park near the start of the loop.
If you're going to do the entire 17 miles: You can park near Angels Flight and after finishing The Big Parade, take the Metro Bus 2 or Bus 4 from the Music Box Steps back to Angels Flight.
There are paid lots near Angel's Flight/Grand Central Market, for about $6 all day.
Public transit: The Pershing Square Station, along the Red and/or Purple Line, is just steps from Angels Flight. Make sure you exit towards Angels Flight/Grand Central Market, from the Pershing Square Station.
The Music Box Steps is just south of Sunset Blvd., which is served by many bus routes. You can take either Metro Bus 2 or Bus 4 to get back to Pershing Square Station and Angel's Flight.
Parking near the Music Box Steps is street parking only and limited.
Carpool: Arrange a carpool meeting and leaving a car at the Music Box Steps, then drive and park at Angel's Flight.
