yard share! Want help gardening or need a place to garden?

www.mycitygardens.org

Connect with landholders who need a hand working their outdoor spaces or connect with neighbors who want to roll up their sleeves and start planting.

Our vision. Instead of urban and suburban areas being a sea of buildings connected by streams of concrete and monoculture lawns, imagine the places where you live and work surrounded by lush strips of tasty vegetables and beautiful flowers. Instead of running out of your apartment to buy salad that was grown in another state or continent, you could be running around the block to pick your own. We’re working towards this goal by creating a Boston-based yardsharing site, connecting landholders who  would like help working their outdoor spaces with neighbors who want to garden but don't have access to outdoor space.

Logistics: Use our interactive website to be introduced over email to a garden or gardener near you! You decide if the match is right and arrange the details, such as days and times the gardener can access the space, what will be planted, how the crop will be shared, etc.

I went out to vic place. Looking for a possible bee hive location. it was a good fit. I was also looking for help to plant my herb garden. I did not get any but I got the job done by myself.

I got them all planted. It was alot more work than I anticipated. Now all I really need is rosemary, savory and winter savory. for my herb garden. Hopefully it rains for the next couple days.

    Hey All,
Thanks for much for you're interest in yard sharing. To make yard sharing a reality, sign up for an account on our website. I saw some of you already have. I hope we can help you find a gardening match!

Just to clarify, I hadn't planned on an actual get together Sunday night. I more was hoping to let people know about the site, so they can connect and start gardening. Sorry for any confusion.

If you have any comments, questions or want to be kept up to date on yard sharing related stuff shoot me an email @ [masked]

I'm so excited by this! I love to garden, but don't have a space. I would love to help anyone weed, plant, dig things up,...etc.

John, thanks for the enthusiasm. I recommend checking out the interactive map on our website to see if anyone near you is looking for a yard sharing partner.

I'm always on the lookout for places where I can freely forage for weeds, both medicinal and edible. I'm currently also on the lookout for stinkhorn mushrooms. I'm interested in places where the soil is reasonably reliable, not too close to heavy traffic or other sources of contamination.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
