  • In this class you will learn the basics of vermicomposting (composting with earthworms). Topics include: the science of vermicomposting, how to create a hospitable home for your worms, do's and don'ts for feeding your worms food scraps, troubleshooting problems with your bin, and ways to harvest your vermicompost. Participants will then use the tools and supplies provided to build their own worm bin, make worm bedding, add the bedding to their bin, and welcome 1000 or so worms into their family.

What you walk away with: Your own worm bin, made from reused materials. It will be filled with a pound of composting worms, and bedding for the worms to live in. The total cost of the workshop, bins & worms is $50 per student. You can pay and register at; . Two or more students from the same household should call Bill at[masked] for discounts. The workshop is limited to 15 students.

Teacher: George Zahka, founder of Infinite Compost, has been composting for the past 10 years. Three years ago he welcomed 1000 red wiggler composting worms into his family, and he now has over 50,000 worms hanging out in his basement (in bins). You can learn more about his composting exploits at

To Hannah and others -- My apologies; this is a recurring post I can't seem to erase or eradicate. I thought it was zapped, and here it is again.

George of Infinite Compost let a great vermicomposting workshop about 10 days ago, and he wants to do it again... and include bocashi too! Stay tuned.

I would love to go to this- but I can't go in the middle of a work day. If you ever have one one week day I have been thinking about worms for too long! Guasano!
