Raw Milk Dairy Field Trip #1 - Goat's Milk

  • Sep 8, 2012 · 9:00 AM
  • Herb Hill Micro Dairy

Ever wanted to try fresh goat's milk? The Herb Hill Micro-Dairy is a small goat milk dairy in suburban Andover. It specializes in fresh, delicious chilled raw goat's milk. In addition, they are certified producers of organic herbs, eggs, and have an organic herb and meat chicken CSA through the year. Owner Lucy McKain is the Middlesex County 4-H Dairy Goat Club leader for youth interested in learning about goats.

Come and enjoy a walking tour of the farm at 10:00 am. Lucy will demonstrate and describe how goats are milked so that you can try your hand at milking a goat after the demonstration. Watch the chicks, ducks and goat kids at play. Try some moisturizing goat's milk soap and/or bring your own container for filling with organic compost to bring back to your soils for your own growing needs. Items are available for purchase..

The farm visit is FREE!!!!!!!! Raw Milk Dairy Day is sponsored by NOFA/Mass.

Hi Everyone....so unfortunately, I will not be able to make the trip to Andover myself this weekend. But I encourage you all to go, and to email each other about carpooling - either from Alewife or from elsewhere. Lucy's tour is at 10:00 am. I recommend that you buy milk while you are there (it's awesome!!), and I also recommend that you bring a cooler, if you can, in your car - so that you can keep it cold on the drive home. There is a gas station before you get back on the highway, so I always just buy a bag of ice to go with it as well....if you need my help in facilitating carpools with each other, let me know. If you need directions, go to Herb Hill Micro Dairy website, and/or call the farmer, Lucy McKain. Have fun. DRINK RAW MILK. YAY!!!!
