Hi everyone. We have some exciting events coming up that I wanted to share with you.
First, Ellie and Jules (fellow Urban Homesteaders and the founders of D.I.O. Skillshare) have generously offered to lead a tour of their uban eco-homestead in East Cambridge on Saturday, July 11th. Below you will find some of the features of their house. This tour will be limited to ten people, but if there's a lot of interest, we'll schedule another tour for later in the summer. This is a great opportunity to see how to create an eco-homestead with limited space and resources, and minimal technology.
The tour will take place from 1-3pm and the location will be emailed to those who have rsvp-ed yes.
Some features of Jules and Ellie's home:
-A raised bed garden that allows them to be fully self-sufficient for vegetables three seasons out of the year and and part of Winter.
-An extensive composting system.
-A rain barrel catchment system.
-Passive solar energy.
-A graywater collection and reuse system.
-20 square feet of indoor growing space.
-An extensive jar sprouting system.
Second, our next potluck is scheduled for Sunday, July 19th. This potluck will be organized around seasonal and local foods and also include a recipe and clothing swap. The location will be decided once we're closer to the day and have a sense of the weather. (Hopefully, we'll be able to do it outside.)
Third, on August 1st we will be joining in on the "Tour de Farms" -- a 15 mile bike tour of nearby farms sponsored by a lot of great organizations. This event is $10 and requires pre-registration.

More events will be coming soon!
